Still have happy memories of kevin Friend being ushered off from the Christie park pitch (cant remember which game it was) surrounded by a sea of hi viz jackets to stop just about everybody getting to him. Look where being a shit ref has got him

Going back to our early Conference days we had untold problems with a ref called Bisi Bello

I've never forgotten his name...... nightmare.

There is ultimate confusion as there are two referees named Mr Heywood.
Actually one is Mr Haywood, and for the life of me, one is bloody awful and the other pretty good, every single time we get them, but I'm not sure which one is which.
Until half time, then, when we have 7 yellow cards and weird decisions, I remember! :D

Yes they are both called Mark as well!

Mark Haywood from W. Yorkshire (Wycombe home game, Hatlepool home last season and he sent off Mark Hughes at Tranmere)
Mark Heywood from Cheshire (The clown Away at Mansfield)

Which ones whicjh, Freez?

He's got the most inappropriate name, hasn't he! Pretty sure it was against Rochdale when he sent Twissy off for a high boot, regardless of the fact that their player came in unsighted from behind Twissy into his boot!

Yes, Kevin Friend had a nightmare refereeing us against Rochdale. He didn't seem to be able to read the game nor understand fair and unfair challenges. I actually emailed the Football League to complain about his performance and that season he was duly promoted to the Premiership! He was awful in that game against Rochdale.

Got to add Martin Yerby to this list - referred a game at Barnet in the conference days, sent off walmsley after 28 minutes, gave them every decision and waved play on for Barnet to score after an horrific challenge on one of our players, micky Howard I think, that saw him stretchered off. I'll never forget that b*stard, those that were there might remember the Ian Hendon 'incident' later in the game as well!

Do any locals remember playing in the saturday or sunday leagues in the 80's and 90's and having the legendary mr Boscombe reffing ?

He looked a bit like Bill Cosby.

Michael Oliver - play off final, awarded us a penalty and sent one of their lads off for nutting big ears.

Phil Dowd - Awarded us a last minute penalty at Chester which Baker converted. Scenes.

Just been tweeting the aforementioned Michael Howard about the above Barnet game and he has asked for the referee in the Hereford Play Off Semi Final game nominating.

Good call that one. That excuse for a ref was particularly shocking

I think Jon Moss did the Hereford semi final.

He was the only person in the ground to see a handball in our box and then chalked off a perfectly onside Twiss goal for offside.

He's reffing in the Premier League now :!: :!: :!: :!:

Nope, he was a shocker but it was a Mr R Hewitt:

Jon Moss we had at Macc in Jan 2008. Awarded a dodgy pen which Scott Loach saved.

Apart from the red card at Wembley, Michael Oliver is a terrible ref.

I was at Macc for that match , Stew Drummond's first game back from Shrewsbury.

I had a feeling Moss has done us more than once with dodgy penalties and other bad decisions.

Bit harsh. I think he is a good ref even at PL level, especially for his age. It is such a tough job with not much praise and reward who is constantly in the fast decision making (obviously).

We should be supporting refs. They are getting poorer and not helped by constant criticism. It is shocking how many quit the game at grassroots level. Maybe ex players as refs would be good though.
