On a sad note, it has been reported that former manager Ken Waterhouse has died at the age of 85

RIP Ken. The first manager I remember from all my time watching the Shrimps. Admittedly,
I was very young!

Along with Jimmy Harvey Ken will always be one of my favourite managers. A real gentleman who achieved some success for our club. RIP

Great memories of Ken's era at Christie Park 50 years ago.

Yes I remember the scatting shed and the old wooden stand at Christie, memorable matches from Ken's era are the Lancashire Senior cup final win at Christie against a virtually full strength Burnley team and the 3 FA Cup matches against York, 0-0 at York ( my first big away trip as a young lad, I had just started LRGS and in those days we had lessons on a Saturday morning but my dad wrote a letter saying I had a family wedding to go to in Yorkshire), replay at Christie was 1-1 with Arnie Timmins getting a late equaliser then we lost 2-0 in the second replay at Maine Road, happy days

I remember the build up to that game. Along with former club secretary Neil Marsden we made a banner that said 'Morecambe Cock of the North'. Probably wouldn't get away with it today. Also changing ends at H/T through a tunnel and meeting the Yorkies half way without a hint of trouble.

RIP Ken. Player Manager of the Mighty Reds when I was first seduced by the beautiful game in 1965 and he didn't disappoint with some great occasions in the following years. Laid a solid foundation for our club and will be remembered as a legend.

possibly the most successful manager of all, the last one to win a league title I think, 1968 the year he did the treble, league, senior cup, junior cup.

spoke to him many times over the years since, a real gent. RIP Ken.

Absolutely agree about a permanent tribute

This guy managed a Morecambe team that won 3 trophies in one season. Those included the Lancashire Senior Cup (only non-league team to win it) and the final was won 2-1 against a Burnley team that had Ralph Coates , Dave Thomas , Steve Kindon and Frank Casper in its ranks.

We were on the paddock that day, one thing that's stuck in my mind was a big 'Morecambe' chant spreading round the ground in the last few minutes of the match. As you say memories

Ken is the best manager in my time watching the Shrimps and Charlie Lea the best player I've seen in a Morecambe shirt, legends is a word overused nowadays but these two guys are true Morecambe legends

R.I.P. Mr Waterhouse. Unfortunately I never knew the gentleman, but all I ever read is what a giant legend of the club he was.
