Matt Jansen

Been mentioned before I think and has been training with Rovers but not going to be offered anything. If Sammy was interested would we be in with a chance or would this affect the "Transfer" embargo, even though he's a free agent? And what if he signed on non contract terms?

We can't sign anyone in any shape or form until the embargo is lifted.

He lives up that way and is presently only training with Carlisle to keep up match fitness.

Did you get to speak to Owen? He's a nice guy.

Matt was indeed training with Rovers in the hope that he could perhaps give it another go, however as reported in our local rag Matt had left the club last week. Shame as he is a legend around these parts whose career was sadly wrecked when he had his accident in Rome. A fasntastic footballer and also a genuine nice bloke, would love to see him in a shrimps shirt but feel that would be a total non starter

Is he?

13/01/09: The Rovers boss confirmed to a Press Conference - "Matt is not training with us anymore."

Must have been a recent change then.

As for signing for us, I mentioned that a few weeks ago before the embargo I think.

I 'could' be wrong obviously BUT i think you'll find he WAS training with Rovers but stopped when a certain manager arrived and Carlisle offered him the chance to train with them (as he lives up that way), but I'm not quite sure if he took them up on it?

After what he has been through over the last few years I think he deserves a bit of luck!

It would be fantastic to see Matt down at Christie at some point after this embargo is lifted!!! You only have to look at his record and see how good he was for rovers before his crash!

I know since then he has never been the same player but I think he could bag a fair old few for Morecambe!! Something i hope sammy will be looking into!!!!
