The 50% is probably already earmarked as the new HQ for Omega Travel who have probably outgrown it's White Cross offices.

Assuming of course Mr Adams stays connected with the club in its imminent sale?

With todays news is this possibly the reason that no deal has been done on Stadium sponsorship ?

A new owner is quite probably going to be in business and so may wish to name the stadium after his own business.

If we had signed up to another 5 year deal with someone last year it may have put a number of possible investors/owners off.

Has PMG just paid it all off to make it a more attractive prospect? Does he expect to get his money back by been able to charge a higher value for the club if we are debt free or has he just cut his losses and written the debts off.

Any potential buyer will do "due diligence" on the club so it makes sense to clear as many of the secured charges as it can which is what happened a couple of weeks ago.

I understand that but do you think PMG will ask for a higher sale price to retrieve the written of debts or has he just cut his losses?

You would think when they are doing due diligence they will be able to tell we were in debt and then it all got wiped off suddenly.

Speaking as an accountant , any prospective buyer doing due diligence won't care about the fact that there was debt and that it has been wiped off. They just want to make sure that the debt has gone and that there won't be any nasty surprises once they have purchased the club.

Shoot me down in flames if you want but has the move to the Globe been a disaster? On the field we've done a lot worse than our first 3 seasons in the football league whilst we remained at Christie. Before the move we could pay 50k to Southport for the likes of Baker and Duffy. Correct me if I'm wrong but we've not been able to afford a transfer fee of any amount since the move nor paid any transfer fee for a player. For all the corporate hospitality how much of that profit is payable to a franchised facility as the match day staff must be a 100+ what it was at Christie. So does it earn that much in comparison? The amount of people I know who have stopped watching Morecambe since the move is alarming... I used to go in my local pub after a match and 30 to 40 or so would also have been to the game. Now there's about 4 of us, if that!

If we'd stayed at Christie we'd arguably be in a worse position financially as the budget would have fallen anyway on the back of no additional income. In my view we'd probably be bankrupt if we'd stayed.

The disaster of the Globe was the poor planning of the ground, where we could have copied and improved on Burton with decent corporate and terrace facilities we ended up with fag packet scheme; overspending in the first couple of seasons with a manager who threw it at poor players and agent fees when some of that could have been spent on ground changes; and lastly ineffectual management and staff that 'corporatised' the club at the expense of much of the community feel that built it up.

A new owner with money to burn could improve the customer experience, engage the community and see a long-term turnaround but it would be tough and they would need the support of community-minded directors and senior staff.

Agree with Posh, but feel a new owner with money to burn will be almost an impossiblity, it will soon emerge, I suspect, how much PMG wants, this will have a huge bearing as the existing directors aren't selling up, are they?

Doesn't matter whether the existing directors (minority shareholders) sell up or not. As far as I am aware, PMG is the majority shareholder so can do what he wants with his shares. He can sell them on his own and the other directors/shareholders don't need to be involved in the deal at all - they'll continue to be minority shareholders. It'll be between the new owner and existing shareholders whether they continue as they stand or whether they sell out too. The new owner may want a clean sheet with 100% ownership and his own Board of directors - or they may be willing just to buy out PMG and continue with the existing ownership/management structure. They may not be able to afford to buy it all and may only be able to stretch to buying out PMG's shares. Perhaps some of the existing board will want to increase their share and do a partial buy-out of PMG with a new investor buying a smaller percentage? Who knows?

Not quite what he says. He says he (PMG) thinks the aim should be to get us into League 1 within the next 3 years!

Is it just me, do others think the club may be up for sale for quite a while? Perhaps its more a statement to say to fans PMG won't be investing further?

It appears PMG has been looking for a way out for a while (possibly since the move to the Globe was completed), but for whatever reason things haven't quite worked out. News of an investment a couple of weeks ago quickly turned into this week's announcement, so perhaps the final roll of the dice didn't work out? Personally I can't see the investment appeal for wealthy businessman and locally do we have anyone who has a enough spare cash to buy PMG out and pump in as he has? Possibly not.

Really hope I am wrong but a long period of uncertainty could mean more stagnation for the club and a very tough season in prospect next year.

Any news on the club sale , can't honestly see anybody breaking their neck to part with hard earned cash for a struggling league club with a diminishing support base . Surely the asking price must be dropping steadily
