Not true. We finished lower in the league under Sammy than we will this year and with getting on for twice the budget, and no one was pushing for him to be sacked. With this budget he'd have got us relegated. Jim Harvey was the same when he came close to relegation from the Conference.
That's not to defend Jim but don't throw nonsense into the debate.
Posh you are the first to be selective in what you throw into the debate. You were calling for facts to be used earlier, and now you are using pure speculation by saying what might have been under hypothetical situations.
Sammy had one bad season under a budget, given to him by the board, that was obviously much larger due to the anticipated additional income from the Globe (which probably didn't materialise). We don't know how well Sammy would have done under a lower budget, as much as we don't know how Jim would do under a larger budget. Additionally, you and nobody on this message board is able to factually compare the two budgets with actual figures.
Someone earlier was praising Jim for getting rid of Sammy's "Journeymen". I put it to you that it is equally as frustrating watching Lee Molyneux (not deemed a journeyman) as it was watching Chris Shuker (Sammy's journeyman). We must also conveniently forget that it was a number of journeymen who got us promoted to the football league in the first place.
I am of the opinion that if Sammy was in charge, there would have been a much more hostile situation at the Globe than there is at the moment, certainly before today's game. But that is understandable to a certain extent given Jim is probably a lot of people's favourite ever player (certainly mine).
However, at the end of this season we need to be open and honest in that it has been a complete and utter shambles. If we bury our heads in the sand like Jim has tried to do and blame injuries, officials, the weather or traffic we WILL go down next year.
