Fans need some clarification

Fans need some clarification

Postby Christies Child » Sun Apr 10, 2016 11:03 am

The fans need some news either way about the future of our club. We need to know if there is light at the end of the tunnel that will restore some stability to our club going forward. At the moment speculation is breading concern about takeovers and personnel casualties both on and off the field.

For me I want the Board to confirm exactly what the current situation is with regards to potential investors coming into the club. Are there such individuals or even groups prepared to both re finance and re structure are great club or not? I don't expect names of potential backers just a clear statement of fact that a takeover is more than likely than not.

Until such a statement is issued fans will have obvious concerns about the future direction non more so than that the position of the current management team. Their current position as it appears is one of complete limbo. Unable to negotiate contracts due to no budget never mind the uncertainty over their own positions.

For me with only 5 games left of this to be forgotten campaign I personally feel that both Jim and Ken should be given leave of absence form the club and that Kevin and Drummy are given temporary control of team selection and tactics whilst Jim and Ken take a break for them individually and collectively to decide their futures away from the day to day pressures of managing a squad of players who at times yesterday appear to have lost their appetite for a fight partly due to the continued barracking of them from the touchline by, in the main, Ken Mc. Yesterday was an all time low in the amount of shouting and instruction after instruction which appeared to have the opposite effect on the players. Even a colleague of mine who sits just in front of me suggested that Ken should keep quite as it appeared to be confusing more than helpful.

As for their futures I don't want to see a true legend sacked but a change of direction for all on field activity needs to happen and by giving them time away from the club and particularly the players it gives all parties some breathing space until a takeover of otherwise is settled.

It may be that a takeover is imminent and that it will all become clear at the end of the season. But action needs to be taken now just in case the new broom sweeps clean giving either the present regime or potential managers time to view and assess what they may be taking on particularly in terms of having to rebuild a squad that could be so low in contracted players that we could have a Blackpool situation on our hands whereby it is so low in numbers that an almost complete new squad needs to assembled....not a prospect that fills me with hope for the future.

So please, please Directors and Peter McG in particular we need some statement of the current state from yourselves as to what the future holds both in terms of potential positive takeovers and the positions of the current management team.....the fans deserve nothing less.

We have been spoiled over the years with our stability. Now that we are in rocky waters we could do with leadership and some strong heads on and off the pitch.
Hopefully this will get sorted, but you won't be getting much of the above, CC, until anything is signed and sealed.

I agree the last thing we need is yet another 'big announcement' the Chinese shambles still lingers in many minds as a PR disaster BUT a simple statement of fact that a takeover is imminent or otherwise would be more than welcome. No names, no hints as to who or what....just a clear and concise statement that negotiations or otherwise are at an advance stage....even if it is to say that a takeover is unlikely. At least we would then know rather than pure rumour.... :!: :!: :!:

We can't leave it to SADARSE.....

I got bored reading once we got on to the usual rubbish about Ken McKenna.

There should be no issues with planning for next year, the club should be proceeding on the basis that the club will not be sold, as that is the most prudent thing to do. Budgets should be set accordingly and Jim can work with that.

If and once a sale is agreed, budgets can be reassessed but that will take time for new owners and I would be amazed if all of that happens in the space of the next 3 months.

Even if talks are at an advanced stage, PMcG would be foolish to announce such, as it might still fall through, and other potential investors may already have started looking elsewhere as it seems their interest is no longer wanted.

In some respects I kind of agree with CC  especially this time in the season when the season ticket renewals are not far off . As a PMG stand Red seat resident I wonder whether it will be worth shelling out yet another £700+ For 2 adult S/Ts with so much uncertainty around the club , not to mention the lack of entertainment

It is what it is. As far as the management are concerned they hav 2 years (!) left on their contracts, so no uncertainty for them. Some players are contracted some finish at the end of the season. Some will be looking elsewhere as already speculated. We will find out soon enough. I only see this uncertainty as a ready made excuse for next season already! The sale of the club was not a problem according to JB, then suddenly (after more defeats) it IS a problem! I doubt any info will be seen until the deal is finallised.

your not the only one.

as things stand unless there is a change of direction and attitude from MFC I will not be buying one, I'll just become a casual supporter.

as a season ticket holder since the FA cup disgrace I have only been to 3 home games since, and wont go again this season.

Publicly putting the club for sale wasn't a good move. In business, most businesses are bought/sold in secret exactly the avoid the kind of uncertainty that is currently paralysing the club. More often than not, the first that the staff/customers/suppliers know of a business sale is when it's done and dusted and the new owners take over. That's the way it should be. There's no need for open publicity when selling any business, including a football club, just as there's no need for publicity when a player is looking for a new contract - there are professional agents in the background who deal with all this kind of thing, matching buyers/sellers, just as recruitment agents match jobs against jobhunters. Quite a shoddy and amateur way of doing things. Sadly, my and my lad also won't be renewing our season tickets until we know what the situation is - we certainly won't be paying for more of the same I'm afraid.

Fans who have put their names forward for the Supporter Liason Commitee (aka seemingly SADARSE) also need some proper channels of being informed also.

I emailed our General Manager to register my interest in the idea the morning after the Fans Forum.

Outsider kindly told me by word of mouth about the date of the first meeting - which I couldn't make due to working away that day. A couple of fans have also mentioned to me in passing yesterday about the date for the next meeting.

All very well and good this "word of mouth" lark. But. The club have my email address. Why can't fans who have expressed an interest be emailed "officially" advising of dates and times? This business of "oh, I'll tell such and such" is no good. What happens if only so many are told of the meeting? A proper, simple email out to those who (were) interested wouldn't take much. Or would it??

As Spandau Ballet sang, "Communication let me down".

Still. No change there is there really.

It's a far from ideal situation. Clearly all that the board can do is assume that a sale will not occur, set Jims budget accordingly and let him get on with preparing for next season (under the current ownership, there's no way Jim is leaving this summer - like it or not).

I am sure Jim will be professional and get on with it under the assumption that he's safe and has licence to plan but he's only human and it must be hard for him to feel 100% committed when the threat of change is still there. I can't see why the board haven't set the budget yet - unless they really feel a sale is imminent.

I think Martin would be an excellent 'fan representative', a long time fan with an excellent knowledge of the club and possibly even an element of common sense!

Neil, because there are only five games left, is exactly the reason that this is a barking mad suggestion! There would be no way back for them (so may as well just be sacked). As it is, we'll probably limp pathetically over the finishing line (same as last season). Then come back in August with renewed optimism.

Personally, I hope Jim takes a long hard look at this season and sees that he had, against all the odds, created a talented squad. But he panicked (again) and throttled them (again) and that performances have not been good, despite what he said. He'll then set us off next season in the same manner as this & last, but then not tinker around with it, but allow each player to flourish in their best position. And play the way we can, to our strengths, rather than giving the opposition too much respect.

Regardless, there is a lot of rebuilding needed. We need to get the community feel back in the club.

And just to disagree with Neil once more... This "to be forgotten campaign"... You must be joking, I'll have nightmares about that FA Cup defeat for years to come!

Actually, seriously, I think it will be a long remembered season, simply for Barry's goal. In more than forty years of watching football, that's the only time I've seen a goalkeeper score in open play. Something to savour for a long time! :D

Respect for your opinion Keith as always, but disagree.....as you would expect.

It happens in business that there are temporary changes at the top. No reason for sport to be different.

However it will all become clear in due course. Just hope that v Stanley we can regain some pride with a performance that puts the last 2 games a distant memory.

But Keith, do you really believe Jim is capable of doing this, he has shown no signs of his being able to up to now, he quite clearly is unable to motivate the players at the moment, and they are his team...he clearly has not learnt the lessons of the previous 2 seasons.....he is a club legend and it is not very nice having to watch his apparent demise at the moment, I think he will really have his work cut out to win back the fans he has lost through his negative tactics and post match comments, everyone close to where we sit in the PMG section D is completely fed up with things at the moment, one recent home win, against a very poor Barnet side is simply not good enough
