Murphys Law (Accrington Predictions)

Murphys Law (Accrington Predictions)

Postby SupermarketShrimp » Mon Apr 11, 2016 8:02 am

So, we're in terrible form, can't defend for shit, GK suspended, players disinterested, players signing pre season agreements elsewhere.

Accrington away, where we usually roll over and die despite all the above not happening, in fact usually being in great form.

So, what are we saying, 4-0 Morecambe win?

If we swapped places (3rd and 19th), we all know they would batter us!

Hope so, making a day off it for my birthday! So will have a good few drinks and not let the football spoil the day etc if not...

Have a bad feeling it might be our last league meeting with them for some time and we will go out with a 3-1 win

Assuming this is now the prediction thread, recent positivity on my part has seen me slip off the top of the leaderboard, and given the performance on Saturday, along with the Dagenham result, plus it's Accrington, I can only see us losing, so

My problem in the prediction competition has repeatedly been initial realism, with a sudden, last minute blast of optimism, causing me to change a points winning prediction to a losing one... by predicting a Morecambe victory.

Can't see us getting anything from this. 3-1

I've tried really hard to be positive but I can't see us getting anything out of this one. Accrington went through a spell of scoring 3-4 goals but since beginning of March seem to be winning with 1 or 2 and clean sheets. We're going to lose but not get thrashed  2-0. That's as positive as I can be for this one. Hope I haven't under estimated their firepower ;)

If we play like we did on Saturday, 6-2 isn't an unrealistic prediction at all. If we stand off them and give them an inch to shoot, they will, and they will score (they love a good deflected goal, and are a dead cert to get their annual penalty). As soon as they do, we will crumble.

Another Jimbo apology to the fans, we've had a few of them now.

Coleman always gets his team fired up whereas ours can't be arsed at the best of times.

5-1 defeat. I will be the one attacking Jim with my inflatable banana (that's not a euphemism you perverts ).

This won't be popular with some on here but I would like to see us set up defensively. I know we are shocking defensively but if we try to attack but fail to battle in midfield they will overrun us in that area and expose our defence. If we go two down inside ten minutes again it's game over. Lets get men behind the ball, make it difficult for them to break us down and stay in the game. The longer it's stays goalless the more likely they are to get frustrated and nervy. Every game is a cup final for them, they are the ones under pressure. How about:

GK O'Hara
LWB McGowan
RWB Barkhuizen
CB Parrish
CB Edwards
CB Doyle
CDM Kenyon
CM Fleming
CAM Devitt
ST Miller
ST Stockton

I have criticised Jim for playing Barkhuizen in defence in the past as we aren't getting the best out of him. However he is capable in this position and can still pose a threat going forward. If we opt to play five defenders with Conlan injured and Beeley unplayable there aren't many options. Miller struggles in games where we have little possession as he is lightweight and won't hold the ball up. Stockton appears to have the qualities that Miller lacks and this could benefit Miller. McGowan should be starting every week and Doyle certainly deserves a chance. I would still be worried by the midfield two but bodies behind the ball will make it harder for them to create chances. Regardless of the line up or formation that Jim goes with the players will need to 'run through walls' to get anything out of this game. There has been a lack of effort and commitment from a number of players in recent times which suggests Jim has lost the dressing room.

Is Beeley injured so he can't play? If not he will start (as he always does) becuse he's the captain.
He's also shit but hey................
Personally I would be happy never to see him start again. His absence is a plus imo.
It also says a lot when your top scorer in open play (not including pens) is also your first choice wingback.............which I actually agree with.Pity we can't clone Barky and play him as a defender and an attacker.

Beeley isnt injured as far as im aware. I think 'unplayable' was the word Andrew Strauss used when describing why Kevin Pietersen wasnt selected for last summers Ashes. The same word feels relevant to Beeley because as you eloquently put it he is 'shit'.
