o/t Accrington Season Tickets

Just had a look at Accrington's website and I see they are advertising next season's "early bird" season tickets for all parts of the ground for £199 (£159 Concessions) if bought before 30 April. That's less that £10 per game or just under £7 for juniors/seniors! Also if you don't want a season ticket you can buy a membership for £20 which brings a good discount on match by match tickets. Interesting innovation and could be a pointer for all clubs with low attendances. Wonder if it will work?

only thing with the £20 membership card, is that it could swing(steal) a lot of people in two minds or having doubts buying a season tickets.

it would be very very popular with Morecambe fans at the moment who have lost faith, but from a club season ticket sales point of view, the membership card could steal buyers.

I too raised the season ticket issue but was told that the existing arrangements enabled the club to plan it's budgets for the season ahead. Still feel that something should be done to make payment on a month or quarterly arrangement to be sorted.

You can already pay monthly.... its called 'Ezi-pay' or something similar. Basically you pay 12 installments by standing order for a 2 year season ticket. The second season you pay nothing.

But you are then commiting to 2 seasons and paying for both in the first year? thats not cheap.

Assuming 2 home games a month the installments work out the same as what you'd be paying on the gate.... so if this is what you're doing currently because you can't afford to buy your ST in a lump sum, surely this is beneficial? Effectively you are still getting the benefits of being a season ticket holder (free games vs paying on the gate each week) coupled with spreading the cost, albeit this is over two seasons.

Like many I am considering whether to renew my season ticket, held for 10 years, for next season and presently am thinking not to as I missed a number of games due to holidays (I'm retired now so have the flexibility) and also go to a number of hospitality days for which I have to buy another ticket as part of the package, so the ST value is pretty much cancelled out. Plus, given the performances of the last 2 seasons I can get my life choices in order rather than having it arranged around fixtures. Having said that, if a deal was offered on similar lines and prices to Accrington, and I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford paying "up front", I would certainly be attracted to renew. If I don't renew, which is very likely, I will not abandon the club and will still come to games, but probably less than in previous seasons. I'm sure there are plenty like me too. As well as persuading me and others like me, an initiative like this could provide the club with a major marketing platform to attract new business which we all know is desperately needed.

as im at uni full time i havent been to the games for two years during the festive period i get to the games as being at home put hopefully during the summer i can pass my driving tests and i will try to get to the games if i do

I WILL be buying a new season ticket, committing to the 2 season one. As I will still go to the games even if we are poop at the moment. I will also continue to go to away game's. Because it still works out cheaper than Miss Whiplashes hourly rates. (For us sadomasochists).

The two year season ticket for Direct Debits does not make any sense to me. What is the logic in not making it available for normal one year season tickets? Lets face it, who could predict where we will be at in two seasons, what level we will be playing at etc?

I doubt there is a MFC fan out there this season who has paid £17 on the gate for 21 league games so far, so the comparison to two games a month doesn't really hold up. Think the Club needs to realise that whilst the football continues to be average to crap we should be doing whatever we can to keep and generate season ticket holders.

I think in terms of cashflow the club are really dependant on the cash injection season ticket revenue generates to pay wages during the summer when there are no games. I notice on companies house that the club have only recently settled a loan to the PFA which was held against the overflow carpark.

What I'd like to see us do is a campaign to try and increase our season ticket base which is linked to price... like what Port Vale, Bradford and Hartlepool did successfully... the latter being probably the best example.

In reality Morecambe season tickets are poor value for money and are more expensive than most of Lancashire's other leafue clubs, over the last 3 seasons I compared the price to Bolton, Burnley, PNE, Blackpool, Blackburn.....and ours were mostly more expensive, other clubs offer more free games with season tickets Ie the cost of a season ticket might equate to paying full price for 15 games so 8 free....and if you compare oap tickets we are often twice as much...opa s/t really are expensive for the Globe, and when you consider the amount of oldies locally I feel this is the great untapped market.....I wish I had kept my notes.....

I was working on a PMG section D...works out at 13.87 per game, an equivalent for Barnsley (although a better stand and a league higher) would work out at 13.70....but a s/t there equates to 11 free matches...when you compare oap rates it is very different ie 190 at Barnsley against 269 at Morecambe..both based on early bird schemes, at Barnsley without any e/b an oap ticket is 230...still cheaper than a MFC e/b.......I really do feel this is an area the club needs to address.......to be fair most oap's don't stand

Personally, I would allow a monthly direct debit for Season Tickets, purely because once someone sets up a direct debit, they rarely cancel them. So even if people start to drift, they are probably still going to be paying. It's about keeping hold of fans.

The problem is that MFC the business relies on cash injections at different points of the season. One of them is season ticket renewals to get them through the summer when the club has no matchday revenue as pointed out by The Omega man at the Fans Forum. IF the club offered a monthly DD option, how many currently paying upfornt will revert to this? In terms of cashflow it might be unworkable. If it is then it should not be as an attractive package as paying in advance.
