New home terrace and bar.

We should move the home end into the away end, and convert part of the big building next to it that has the community stuff and gym into a bar to be used by the home end supporters, don't anyone say this is not feasable because it is, I suggested it to a director last week and he said it was a cracking idea, the reduced capacity wouldn't matter as the home end is rarely even half full, so theres my big idea.

Not a bad idea. The perimeter wall would need extenting and the community sports would need moving but I think the former needs to happen anyway.

Somebody suggested something similar in the home end by refurbing the ladies bogs... there are 16 cubicles in there apparently.... I am reliably informed by halftimeresults that during one halftime interval only three ladies used them... what a waste of unutilised space... portaloos in the bit where we keep traffic cones would do the job.

the money it would cost making the community gym into a bar, and like RRW said moving the perimeter wall back, the cost of that could pay for a undercover roof in the home end we already have now.

An undercover roof would be a poor excuse for a proper bar, the chairman said at the forum that 150k was the estimated cost of building something suitable, I am sure refitting the gym would be far less and far better, cost may be an issue now, but may not be for a new owner.

I do have a building background working in that industry and 150k for a permenent roof is to much, and probably an estimate off a firm trying it on.

I don't think the club have much of a clue and are very vulnerable when dealing with building construction firms, take the Construction of the Globe for example.

The £150k touted isnt for a roof; its for a permanent structure... I imagine like the away end at Burton Albion.... which is capable of holiding 1/3 of the stand at full capacity as per ground regulations.

Our home fans and family stand is in D and E and will have season tickets. This would mean the away fans who want seats will still be in A and possibly B.

The best solution is for the new owner(s) to make the existing home terrace like Burton Albion at the rear.

Couldnt you also switch the home and away seating sections around? Facilities view etc are the same in A&B as they are in D&E?

Re coaches; I supsect very few away fans get dropped off and head straight into the ground. What is more likely to happen is they get dropped off at the away end, walk to the Hurley for a drink and then back again?

The current away end affords a better view, generates a better atmosphere beacuse its enclosed on both sides and switching ends will allow us to increase the away capacity for clibs that can shift the tickets.... Blackpool, Carlisle etc.

You could switch our seated fans but from previous experience our fans don't like being moved .

I still think that improving the Omega is the best way forward.

Numerous others do, Lincoln for example since relegation, and Bury seem to do it with the changing of the tides!

In fairness to SADARSE it's certainly an idea worthy of further in depth looking at.

It would mean moving home fans in the Stand to a different sector but that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

As far as away coach parking is concerned the coaches could be parked in line at the rear of the Omega Stand which would allow away fans direct access to their area. Vehicles that are currently directed to follow the road behind the Omega and Berlin Wall could very easily turn right at the mini round about and go straight to the car parks . The added advantage of having the coaches park behind the Omega is that it is far easier for both the Police and Stewards to control the away fans and keep the local idiots away from them. It's not that often that we get more than 3 away fans coaches so the parking in line would present no problem and still allow access for emergency vehicles if needed.

As always cost will be a major factor in any development but it is certainly worth a serious look at.
