Having watched several training sessions, that's exactly how I see it too! It's all about fitness and very little about skills. Lots of heading, short passing drills, usually ending with a short game (say on a third of the pitch using say 5 or 7 aside). More of a pre-match warm up rather than any real technical/tactical practising! The other thing clearly noticeable is that they all look as if they're having fun, and joking around with Ken and Jim - more like a jolly day out than any kind of proper, intensive training!
How many times has Jim said that a particular player has impressed in training, or that the team look good in training, and then when it comes to a proper game, they've looked completely lost and as if they've never played together before. No wonder as playing around on a 5 a side short pitch is nothing like a proper sized pitch against a proper opposition.
I'm often at the Globe maybe an hour early and tend to watch the opposition team warming up and they nearly all do a much more comprehensive and disciplined warm-up schedule. When you watch Morecambe do it, it's more like a group of lads having a Sunday morning kickabout for fun. Not to mention we do exactly the same thing every week, i.e. the kicking to the subbie keeper - look at what opposition do, they do a similar drill, but do it several different ways, i.e. a turnaround before the kick - we just do simple kicks game after game after game. (and of course, Kev is sooo good at kicking at goal, he never even joins in for the pre-match goal practices!!!!)

Good assessment and exactly how I've witnessed it myself. Our pre game warm up is a joke compared with that of the opposition.
