Stanley to league 1

Refreshing views from Coleman.

We officially don't have the smallest budget in the league but Accy do. Glad this has been cleared up as there's been a lot of wild speculation on the subject.

Assuming that the report is true then those who claim otherwise may have egg on their faces.

But the question still remains 'how do we know the budgets of other clubs'..... :?: :?: :?:

Well, it's published by Sky and I saw it shared by the Football League on their Facebook page, and it quotes John Coleman, so I reckon there's a fair amount of accuracy in it!

So they do have a smaller budget, plus crap training facilities wonder what the Jimbo defence association will come out with now, just before the end of season awards as well

Coley says:

"We've officially got the lowest budget in the Football League, and that's confirmed."

"Our budget will be a fraction of what a Luton or a Portsmouth would spend and perhaps rightly so because we get a fraction of their crowds."

"But it's not about money here. Nobody is coming to play for Accrington for the money or for the glory of playing for the club - they're here because they're hungry and because they're honest."

"It really all boils down to enthusiasm. Our training facilities are awful, so we can't attract players that way either. We have one council Astroturf pitch which we use for all of our training - and that's if the Football in the Community people don't need it."

"So we have to target hungry players who are good footballers and who want to play for us because they love football. Money is never going to be a motivation for the players we sign."

"Character is everything and you're reliant on word of mouth to know that about a person. Sometimes it's a punt but we get more right than we get wrong."

In my opinion it doesn't matter who has the smallest budget in the league. What does matter is are we making the best use of the squad we have got. Clearly the answer is a big no. Throughout the season we have underperformed and the potential has not been achieved. Players that looked promising have not lived up to their early promise and many have gone backwards. Tactically we have been naïve and don't seem able to respond if plan A is not working. The focus has been on defence rather than attack and we have used the budget as an excuse for poor performance. There has been a negativity about the club both on and off field. "We are what we are" and "little old Morecambe" have been convenient excuses to explain away awful performances. There hasn't been the same negative attitude at Stanley and Leicester have shown what a positive approach can do.

If one manager out of a bunch of say, 8 , who all have bog all to spend, excels for some reason, it doesn't make the other 7, that basically did their best and ended up where they were expected to end up , shite managers, and it is insulting to Coley to say otherwise.

Not that you'll convince some people of that.

John, I think when he makes positive statements like these, its his way of lifting and motivating the players he's got, getting that bit extra out of them, enjoying their football full of confidence.

unlike Jim, making negative statements, the budget, it is what it is, if I had more money I would sign better players, because the ones I have are a load of crap, and for some reason, they don't look bothered or motivated.

Was Bentley saying that when we where playing well? Would Coleman be saying what he sez if they were struggling for form and near the bottom.

Come on..

We've been travelling over to Blackburn every night for the last two weeks and tonight I was lucky enough to hear J.C's summary of the season, his players and what this Saturday means in real terms on Radio Lancashire.
Make no bones about it, what he's achieved at that club is nothing short of a miracle and I for one really hope they get over the line on Saturday and do the unthinkable of promotion to League One and like the last time, Maybe just maybe Morecambe can follow in their footsteps and join em

In recent times Morecambe
Can't play for 90 minutes or anywhere near, maybe one half.
Can't string two good games together.
Can't play those halves for more than half a season.
Can't play in their own half
Stadium used to be half full.
My glass now half full, maybe half empty.

Other than that

This is worrying Mark. You're one of the most regular away travellers, but you're levelling heavy criticism against the team of the like which would discourage irregular home supporters, so I have to ask...are you renewing?

Who do we want to go up?

Accrington
Plymouth
Portsmouth
Wimbledon

I'd go for Wimbledon, simply because they are the least interesting of the four fixtures next season.

Me too, Wimbledon.

They don't travel North in big numbers to boost our coffers and we need to keep a local away day in Accy.

(As well as not losing to them next season as well as this!!)

Wimbledon for me too. Worst of the four, good clubhouse but away fans treated terribly in the ground over last few seasons. Good luck to them against Accrington!
