The one's I feel sorry for are the train drivers. The guy who got killed has got his wish, the train driver has nightmares for the rest of his life!

Anyone who kills themselves is obviously is thinking of no one but themselves, otherwise they wouldn't contemplate it.

he's obviously had personal issues he was unable to cope with
knew a guy that did the same a few yrs back because when in that frame of mind he saw no way out but to take his life
BTW he was a dedicated family man that doted on his kids

Happened to me 8 years ago. Unfortunately it comes with the job, even more so these days. The memories fade over time, but when it happens so close to home it brings it back. Very sad for my colleague and everyone affected. May the poor man be at peace now.

Happened to me 8 years ago. Unfortunately it comes with the job, even more so these days. The memories fade over time, but when it happens so close to home it brings it back. Very sad for my colleague and everyone affected. May the poor man be at peace now.

This happened to Mrs A's dad as a train driver. He had to go to the inquest, and had a lot of sleepless nights. The people who do it are ill and aren't able to think about their impact on other people, which Mrs A's dad sees now. I think at the time the transport police told him to clean up the engine and carry on, which he refused, rightly, to do, but it is horrific on the driver. One of Mrs A's dad's fellow drivers had it happen twice, and he really suffered both times, so if you're thinking of it, a) DON'T; and b) think of those you'll affect, both directly and indirecty: it might give you pause...

Thankfully things have moved on and we just have to stay put in the cab and aren't asked to do ridiculous things like that. I was lucky enough not to have to go to the inquest but I only found that out the day after it took place, but I'll be honest, I was scared shitless about going and seeing the family. If anyone reading this ever feels so low that they consider ending it all, please don't... not just in front of my train but please talk to somebody, even the Samaritans, because there is always a way to make your life better, without making somebody else's worse...
