What I want n what I think will happen are two different things.

I can see Beely Paz dugdale and Goodall all getting shown the door.

I think it will be a real shame seeing a lot of our players leave as they have all contributed this season, however their inconcistency is unbelievable (e.g. Goodall was sometimes amazing and other times couldn't even tackle a single soul)

Also, Beels sweeped nearly every MOTM and end of season awards and started off decently this season however his captaincy role has really adjusted his playing style and therefore has ruined his place at the club...

I don't think Beeley will go.
If he does it brings the managements judgement into question (ha) as to why he was the captain for most of the season.
The fact that he has been dogshit..............

I think I read that Dugdale has a contract extension option if he played enough games? If that's the case, he may well have another season if he's hit that number?

Looking at the names of previous winners on the trophies - Parrish, Flemmo, Beeley - what on earth has gone wrong this season. How can Beeley & Parrish win awards previously, yet so badly under-perform this season, to the extent they're almost certainly being let go? At least Flemmo had some good games and showed a bit of flair, but cancelled out by still going backwards too often!!

Is there any point in letting Beeley and Parrish go if they're just going to be replaced by two new lads who'll start brightly and then go off the boil like so many others seem to do? Especially if they both go to new clubs and shine again. Are we just re-arranging the deckchairs on the Titanic?

A couple of seasons ago we had Diagne and Threlfall - let go and replaced by Wilson. Can anyone honestly say that Willow was an improvement on either of them? Look at Hughes - lots of people wanted to see the back of him, but how many can say Dugdale is better as a centre back or Beeley as captain? Is Barky really better than Amond (compare the goals scored against time on the pitch!).

I'm really in two minds. Sometimes I think we need a clearout, but what's the point unless we can bring in better players? Jim & Ken have proved they can bring people in, but they need to work out what goes wrong virtually every season after the bright starts - at least previously the mid-season dip in form has been rectified but this season, they just couldn't pull it back. They also need to look at their formations and tactics. I'm not at all sure that anyone else at our level would be better than Parrish and Beeley so it's a matter of management, team selection, formations, etc., rather than a constantly revolving door of people in/people out.

Yes! I think you are forgetting just how bad Diagne and Threlfall were!

You have to try and get better. As you mentioned above, with hindsight we've replaced Hughes with an inferior player in Dugdale and it's been well documented on here regarding what's happened with Amond.

However, you can't continue to keep mediocre / poor performing players on the off chance that the players you bring in will be worse than them, you have to strive to improve.

Also, it's unfair to compare Amond with Barkhuizen imo, Barkhuizen was brought in to do a different job than Amond. A fairer comparison would be Amond with Miller, which one would you rather have had over the past season?

Adam Lord has just tweeted that Kendal Shrimp will be announcing the retained list later today

Seriously Adam Lord has just tweeted that Jim will be meeting with all the players today but it is not certain that a retained list will be issued today.

I think you've answered your own question in the last sentence of this excellent post.

What will be, will be. But for me the management team have to look seriously at their style of play. I've said it before but former fans will only return if they are being entertained. Too many times this past season it's been sterile and devoid of any signs of entertainment.

I'm still deflated after the season's end but maybe a good close season with loads of positive news about our club will lift the spirits..... :) :) :)

The thought of our team without the likes of Miller, Devitt and Barky is really disheartening so I think I'll take a rest from SV's for a while :( only looking in from time to time now 8-)

When used properly Barky has proved himself to be a capable front man.I would be surprised if there aren't clubs sniffing and if we can get a fee its been good business from the clubs perspective as we got him for nowt. He can't be on a lot here so there's something in it for him as well.

Guess we'll have to wait and see (like with Dev/Miller).Fingers crossed we keep some/all of them.

...and he was better in his first spell with us, but seemed to be allowed to venture further forwards more often to provide crosses or score himself, which is probably what attracted McIlroy to him when we signed him from Chester.

I wonder if Spurs are still interested in stumping up that 2 million now that they've missed out on the title... ;)

There is no doubt that many players have underperformed, particularly since the 2nd January.
On the flip side Jim has re- vitalised a virtually forgotten Sean Miller in to a goal scorer, just a shame his agent will be pushing him for a move.
Barky has also come from the wilderness at Blackpool, to show us at times what he can do.
These two, together with Jamie have played some fantastic stuff this season and when they were on form together and in their best positions, were great to watch

My opinion on this is quite simple. Jim gets his team sorted at the end of the season by getting the loanees and signing them up now, the old bird in the hand better than 2 in the bush argument. A full pre season and we hit the ground running, when the others are still sleeping as their budgets can get the more mercenary players in.

We then have a great start, it tapers off for 3 reasons.

A) the bigger clubs scout us and know our strengths and weaknesses, couldn't be more prevalent this year. We played rapid counter attacks to wingers - so they sat back deeper and that stopped all the bombing attacks.

B) small squad - injuries, lethargy, tiredness.

C) The other teams that get the better players in gel later in the season and then are simply much better than us.

We've not set it up this year like we have previously, financially behind the scenes we are in disarray.

We have relegation written all over us, whether its Jim, Fergie, Alf Ramsay or Pep Guardiola managing them.

ABSOLUTELY.
Without major changes we are going back to the conference.
