Thoughts on 3 departures

Surprised it's not more. Dugdale has done little to warrant consideration for a new contract (if he doesn't qualify for an extension), whilst Edwards has looked lost without some leadership alongside him this season. Top priority is landing an experienced, vocal CB.

Sad but not shocked to see Parrish go. He's had his worst season by far, but given the likely holes in our team and his versatility, he would've been a good squad player. Obviously it's all about finances, and utilising the playing budget as best we can. Perhaps we'll go with younger players for the squad role?

I expect more from Wildig and Molly next season, who have been plagued by injury... And we desperately need more output from Mullin.

Doubt we can keep Miller or Devitt, if we can great. I would give deals to Conlon and Stockton who have both impressed, but like the rest wouldn't be in a rush to sign anyone. Let's see who becomes available and play the market, like Stanley do every year and seem to have the knack of picking up good hungry young players and forming a competitive squad.

There's certainly other players in our defence who I would let go before Parrish, it seems very harsh after one poor season especially when other players have performed just as poorly or even worse.

That's the one... The difference between Jim and Sammy with their starts and finishes is amazing. Sammy didn't get his team assembled till Xmas, Jims team falls to pieces at Xmas

IMO it is the right decision for Andy Parrish to go. He has been very poor this season, playing a major role in being unable to defend against corners and set plays, and why he ( and also Edwards) ever bothered to come up for our corners when they were never going to score - well, you tell me!
That was the value of a player like Mark Hughes, decent defender, vocal with his team mates and scored some important goals too.
That's the kind of defender we need, not the likes of Parrish.
He was a loyal servant to the club for eight years for which he should be applauded, and did have some better seasons in the past, but there's no room for sentiment in football.
A new club may be just what he needs to refresh his career.

In 2014/15 with Hughes in defence (and skipper) we conceded 39 fewer goals than we did in the season just finished.

He only signed at Accrington to the end of this season.

I'm sorry to see Paz go. At open days, etc., he was one of the few players who made a real effort to be friendly to the fans and kids. There's no doubt he's been a loyal servant to the club and he will be missed.

Paz has suffered due to being messed around in terms of positioning. As I've mentioned on here before, there was one game where he was in three back line positions during a single game at the start of the season. In several other games, he's been swapped between CB and RB. Poor guy didn't know if he was coming or going. As someone said above, that's the problem with being versatile and something that Goodall and Moly have suffered from too! Paz barely ever played in the same back 4 due to Jim not knowing his best CB pairing.

It's starting to look like Paz is being hung out to dry as being responsible for the abysmal defence this season, and that's not fair on him. If Dugdale, Beeley and/or Edwards stay and Paz goes, then my opinion of Jim will take a massive nose dive I'm afraid. The entire defence have been crap and ALL need to be replaced.

Yes, Paz has sometimes been poor this season, no denying that. But you can't fault his work-rate and commitment - something that can't be said for the other regular back line, some of whom clearly couldn't be bothered.

Yes, without a shadow of doubt. I readily admit I criticised him at the time, but looking at what's happened without him, it's certainly better the devil you know. Whatever people may think of him, he ensured we had a solid back line and got the best out of the players around him. He also chipped in with a few goals!

The major complaint was his hoof-ball and inaccurate free kicks. Well, it's clear that hoof-ball is the management instruction and at least he managed to keep it on the pitch. How many times do Edwards' kicks go way off target and usually out of play?

Completely agree but the answer is a different experienced League 2 centre half to partner them, not oe we already know to be sub-standard but bearable.

I suspect that Paz's departure is more due to money than form.

Should the investment/takeover happen in quick time, then I wouldn't be surprised if he returned - provided he hasn't fixed himself up elsewhere.

Maybe Jim's had a quiet word in his ear on the probable investment.

I'm not so sure that that part of Jim's management is suspect. He has picked up some good players over his years.....it's what he does with the talent once he's got them that is suspect.
