Think Vokesy and Podge would be good for 60 goals between them up front for Accy next season, maybe get them straight up to the championship :D

Jim put a lot of work into bringing both Brodie and Podge to the club but for one reason or another it didn't work out although playing Podge out of position for most of his time with us certainly didn't help.

I just hope that whoever we get in during the close season particularly in the strikers position (Cook or whoever) that he is played in the position in which he was signed for and not played in a role that he is wasted.

It's frustrating both for the fans and more importantly for the player to see talent wasted by playing them out of position.

The problem with Podge playing out of position was because of the 4-3-3 system which meant there was only one striker on the pitch (Redshaw). This is why Podge and Jack Sampson, two out and out strikers were released and replaced with Barkhuizen and Molyneux, two wingers.

So in that instance Jim has done what you ask and signed players to play within his system rather than putting square pegs in round holes like we had to do with Amond more often than not.

Nobody on their site seems bothered about him leaving. One said that his decision making was poor.

If this is to be the standard of any new recruits......

Unless there's a major injection of money for Jim's playing budget, then this is the new reality. You can't carry on losing half a million per year without a sugar daddy owner. There's no way on earth that the W&L suite being let out for functions/conferences will ever come close to covering that kind of loss, and with no cup run and cancelled saturday home matches, the last season must have been horrendous financially. We really have to hope that someone will buy the club and have deep pockets to subsidise the playing budget heavily for a few years whilst they build up the fans again and get the site making more money to at least contribute towards it's running costs (there's no way on earth that office rents, W&L functions, etc will ever make enough - at best they'll just cover the costs of the site, i.e. rates, power, utilities, security, maintenance etc).

Can't be that good if he was released by barrow. I've seen him play a few games when he was at altrincham an he's no better than what we've got. Also got a lengthy ban if I can remember right for fighting a while back !

.....PLUS he's had more clubs in the past seven seasons than Jack N. He also was out for 4 months earlier this season with a very serious injury AND has had no FL experience having been a non league journey man. For me it's a definate NO WAY....

Paddy Lacey was actually on trial with us a few years ago if I remember rightly.

EDIT: Just checked, he was on trial in pre season of Jims first year as manager. We didn't sign him and he went on to Altrincham instead.

Why would we need Lacey ?

We have Wildig , Fleming , Kenyon , Connor Oliver. Have I missed anyone ?

Technically we only have Wildig out of that lot + Peter Murphy.

I'm more than aware that it's only a rumour, but rumour can become fact....which in this case would not (in my opinion) improve the midfield which is in desperate need of some height and physical presence.

Andy Cook signed for Tranmere last night so that's one potential new signing off the board.

I would rather use any money there may be to re-sign Miller if possible.

Cook wanted to move nearer to his home in the North East so maybe his geography isn't good.

He was never really a target for us surely
If he's turned down a deal to be barrows highest ever player then why would he want to sign for us when he probably wouldn't even get the money he's on at barrow last season !
