Apparently his departure from Sheffield United is imminent.

There was a superb recording played on TalkSport last night that a fan had recorded at Bramall Lane on Sunday last.

Sheffield United failed miserably in their quest for promotion and indeed the Play Offs and were beaten 0-2 at home by Scunthorpe United.

The Sheffield United players did a lap of "honour"...... the abuse they got....

Didn't think they were anything special when they beat us with that last minute goal in the League Cup at our place last August.

Now confirmed Adkins has been sacked and to be replaced by Chris Wilder from Northampton Town.

Wilder no stranger to making unexpected moves, after ditching play off chasing Oxford for relegation threatened Northampton last season. Not a bad move after both clubs got promoted this season! Apparently he was a full back with the Blades and has a home in Sheffield, so it's understandable why he broke off talks with Charlton. His assistant, Alan Knill, is also to join him at Bramall Lane.

Can understand the pull of a club you once played for but can't imagine that the Cobblers fans are that chuffed....mind you he did get them promotion which once again goes to show that with the right backing and a hell of a lot of luck that promotion after a dire previous season can be achieved.

There's hope for us..even if the light at the end of the tunnel is a distant flicker...

Some of the Cobblers would like a certain Mr Coleman to take over. Could well happen if Accy fail to get promoted....

A 21st placed finish must be considered as failure given the quality we have in this squad. Forget the budget and look at the players Jim has to work with.

Your saying Jim has it easy cos other managers have been sacked - those other manager's have had decent budgets.

Your avoiding the real issue. Regardless of budget Jim has assembled a decent squad. At the start of the season many were calling this our best ever squad. Jim has failed to motivate this group and hasn't got the best out of them. I fail to see how anyone can turn up to The Globe every home game, witness one abject performance after another and say it's not Jim's fault, it's the budget.

Decent - but not great and not as good as some people thought - one or two players apart. Some of the motivated team players arent good enough and some of the good players play for themselves and go missing when it gets tough.

My opinion - and thats all it is - is he got them over achieving early on but then it needed boosting at the half way window and that werent possible due to... well you know what. The manager has made mistakes and hed own up to that. But, season after season... the main issue is that it IS constant budget reductions that is doing for the club - as is being really, really seen now. I fail to see how any manager could cope with all that and I fail to see how people who have wathced the club season after season fail to see that.
