The summer transfer window

Trevor wrote:My points valid anyway Ken. All managers bring players in some come off, some don't, others did but don't any more. Managers with steady budgets, or increased ones, can bring in as good or better replacements. If your budget is cut year after year, its just logic that your going to struggle to bring in new players better than the ones you want to ship out. And each year it gets worse. The players this manager has bought in gave kept us in the league but the cuts are bound to take there toll eventually.

Why would you want to replace players out of our so-called best squad ever , its really pathetic to blame the budget . This is the team that were the top goal scorers in all divisions early part of the season , who went on to beat 3 top league one clubs , one of which were at the top and unbeaten till we played them and for me the best football i have seen at the Globe . BUT then Jim decided we were shipping too many goals even though we were still WINNING , and that my friend is when it all started going pear shaped . Changing a winning side and tinkering is why we ended up where we are , nowt to do with the budget.

Who says it was the best squad ever? Don't agree.
EVERY team replaces players during the season and adds to the squad? No matter who they are.
We didn't stop scoring, we started conceding by the way!!

There were quite a few on here saying it was the best squad ever, and they played like it early on (for me anyway).

We were always conceding , up to the end of October we let in 24 but we scored 34. Since then we scored 33 but conceded 59 . :o

If it aint broke dont fix it

Get rid of him then, if that's what yous want. All I'm saying is if you don't get some investment, whoever's in charge you'll be in the same situation in a year time.
If you could cut your budget like Morecambe have year after year and still do well under a good manager every chairman would be doing it.

I'll tell you someone who did predict us to finish in the playoff positions, Jack Redshaw.

In his video interview upon signing for Blackpool he stated that he'd had a friendly wager with some members of the Blackpool squad that we would finish in the top 7 this season.

So there is a guy who participated in our pre season, knew the inner workings of the squad, Jim & Ken and the club as a whole and thought we had what it took to finish in the playoffs.

So every manager out of work is crap then? Think there are some decent managers out their it is just were to look. Not saying getting rid of Jim but their is managers out their who can work on a shoe string. Ainsworth at Wycombe doesn't complain with a wafer thin squad he just gets on with it. John Sheridan at Oldham is another. John Coleman at Accrington before they got new investors, always managed to struggle along with what he had. Wycombe, Oldham & a few others may get better attendances but doesn't mean they have money to play with. Last time Oldham were struggling financially worse than us & facing relegation. We can't keep passing the blame onto our budget. When I watched Morecambe at Yeovil they worked as a team, now that has disappeared, which begs the question.

Yes i was at Yeovil also and even though we went 2-0 down i still had confidence in the team to turn it round , which they did convincingly .

Yeah down and out at half time, similar to Wimbledon and Carlisle, but a really impressive finish. If we are down and out now after 20 minutes we are f@cked

This is the same side that went to top of the table bury in league 1 and won in the JPT. Also the same side that knocked high flying Walsall out along with Rochdale away too. Who knows we're we'd be now if we kept up them performances through out the season !

KS, the words Connor Oliver and 'quality' do not belong in the same sentence.

I'd rather we play Charlie Bailey/other youth teamers in that case.

The manager spoke frequently about wanting to look at his playing options for next season and yet he ignored Charlie during the run in and preferred to continue to use that complete waste of space Oliver.

Charlie Bailey has the potential to be an excellent player but for some unknown reason the manager refused to use him in the final games of the season.

Wouldn't blame Charlie if he decided to look elsewhere for his future after the treatment that he's been given.

Not that I'm saying he won't be good but we've been here before loads of times over the years with people falling over themselves to anoint youth team players as the next best thing and they've all turned out to be no better than Conference North standard players. Mwasile, Cowperthwaite, McGee, Taylor etc etc.

I'd trust Jim's judgement over anyone elses as he's yet to be proved wrong with any player to have come through the youth setup during his time.

You talk as if he's been massively wronged by the management in some way and that he'd be justified in leaving the club.

He's a first year pro, he's had a loan spell at Kendal which is a good start but it's early days yet, lets not act like he's some wonderkid who Jim is holding back.

Maybe the end of season discussions that are currently going on in Spain between the entire management team and all the backroom staff include Drummy are there to analyse the season and formulate a plan for next season that will never see us have to go through what the entire club has endured since Christmas.
