Exactly. The point I'm trying to make is that there are plenty on here who seem to think Bailey was some hot prospect who was worthy of a first team place...

Plenty can't all be wrong. I don't recall many of the others you mentioned having such a positive impact.

We kept Dan Parkinson on for 2 or 3 seasons (I'm sure?) before he was released and ended up at Barrow.

Where he struggled to make an impact and was released there too.

The plenty being people who are forming their opinion based on a 20 minute cameo appearance in a Johnstones Paint Trophy fixture.

What positive impact did Bailey have? He's played for 20 minutes in the first team!

I'd rather trust the opinion of the management team who have assessed his ability over the course of a season.

Dream on. No takeover is near and I'll be surprised if one happens before the end of summer. To sell the club it needs a realistic price for a business with no assets and losing a six figure sum every year.

Is that a fact or pure speculation on your part... :?: :?: :?:

Talking to a couple of Directors last week gave a number of us a more positive outlook particularly as one is heavily involved in negotiations along with Peter McG....

Pure speculation Neil. As you well know I start loads of threads on here full of idle speculation and bizarre hypotheses that turn out not to be true. Oh wait a minute... hang on... maybe I'm thinking of someone else?

Seriously, without naming names, I spoke to someone very close to the club who gave me that information. I've no reason to doubt them at all. They could of course be entirely wrong and excluded from certain discussions, as could your directors. We've seen from the Chinese investors what is widely touted to be a done deal can sometimes be very far from it.

Seems to be different stories/rumours going about then posh as I have heard different from somebody involved with the club. What will be will be. I am sure we will all find out sooner or later.

He did well enough in that game to warrant further appearances, but of course for whatever reason that didn't happen. Basically he hasn't had a shit game for Morecambe, unlike numerous others!

Not strictly correct.

The last published accounts for Morecambe Football Club (31 May 2014) showed on the Balance Sheet a net asset figure of £5,091,480. That is the value of all assets after all creditors long and short term and all loans etc have been deducted.

The last published accounts for Accrington Stanley FC (31 May 2015) showed on the Balance Sheet a net liability figure , not a net asset figure like us , but a negative figure of (£1,078,333).

Accrington also lose 6 figure sums , nearly £400k in the year to 31 May 2015.

So somebody (Andy Holt) put a lot of money into Accrington Stanley despite them having a negative net asset position at the time he invested.

To an investor we look a much better proposition especially with our banqueting and catering infrastructure.

I think it is better that we wait to see what develops with PMG's negotiations.

In PMG we trust.

What are the assets then? As far as I understand it is the buildings, stands, car park and 3G pitches. The buildings and stands are worthless for anything other than football. Most of the land has been sold off leaving at most a couple of acres. In my view the assets are an accounting measure and bear no relation to the real position that a buyer would value the club on.

Posh understands correctly, the covenant on the pitch makes that worthless to an investor, other than for football, the 3g pitches etc at the back are owned by a seperate company owned by PMG, and the remaining undeveloped land at the front is owned by Nigel Adams, a director and lifelong fan , who has no plans for it, and would sell it back to the club if the club needed it.

I don't think I will ever understand why "we" sold the family silver around us. We had a roadside position, now we will get shoved consistently further back. Our match advertising sign has never been prominent and will basically disappear amongst everything else before long

Hope the gateposts on the new house in front of the Church won't hide the floodlights

I seem to recall at a past Shareholders AGM that it was Nigel and Graham H who purchased the land as a way to provide the club with additional funds with the proviso that should the club be in a position in the future to buy back the land that it would be sold on a no profit basis. As I understand it neither has intentions of using the land for their own advancement or for their own development opportunity.

It could well be that the land would be of interest to a future investor of the club which could be part of the overall sales package.

I could of course be wrong...... :?: :?: :?:

Besides Chris Doyle I think the rest all deserved to be released. With Edwards the only centre half now it's clear Jim is going to be bringing in 2 others most likely someone to take charge and be captain. I'd like to see Hughes return or Steve mcnulty someone like that type of player who can bring the best out in Ryan again like Hughes did last season.

Sad for Beely but he hasn't helped himself this season and now it's time for McGowan to step up as it looks like he'll be first choice right back next time round. Let's hope PMG can sell our club ASAP so we can recruit players capable of keeping us in this league again next season !

Why would anyone think a new owner means we would have a larger budget for players?, it might be smaller.

Your missing the point.

The first year at the Globe Arena , turnover increased by £1 million of which most would be attributable to the Globe's banqueting , catering and events and parties , weddings etc.

Irrespective of what assets are on the balance sheet any prospective buyer/investor is not just acquiring a League 2 football club which has just been allocated a much larger slice of Sky TV money , possibly enough to get the club close to break-even according to PMG. They would also be acquiring the Globe banqueting and catering as a going concern. IMHO the whole MFC business has not been well run , PMG losing interest etc etc. If someone with business acumen takes it over there is real potential. They may even decide the gym is worth opening for hire by the public !

Pretty sure it can't get any lower and anyone buyin our football club will be looking to make it better not worse and don't think that's possible without giving the manager extra money to get better players in !

I suspect the current strategy is, in the absence of a buyer, to cut the wage bill and cash in on any available assetts, using the proceeds and savings to bring in lower calibre players. This in addition to some poor performances could be behind the released list.

However IF there are new owners looming the position may be different.

Time will tell.

The contracts offered could be the same or even less than last season of course its all pure speculation all we can do is wait and see.

Thing is that Murphy won't be playing in the friendlies nor the first couple of matches, so someone else needs to fill that role to get the new team to bond and play together. Sad to say, but I think Murphy has missed his chance - after a year out, heaven knows if he'll even be able to command a regular starting place. If Jim can get a older and experience centre back, (in the mould of Hughes), then they should be the new captain with the main role of looking after the defence. Murphy can then be given the job of vice-captain and can look after midfield if and when he plays. We desperately need direction and control on the pitch - something that was lacking with Beeley - we can't afford another season of having a second choice/second rate captain on the pitch.
