Could always give the armband to Roche whilst Murphy regains his fitness, KenH?

Well that's a contender for one of the most moronic things to ever be written on shrimpsvoices.

Correct - I was being sarcarstic. I got slated for saying no manager could succeed when player budgets have been slashed heavily every single year they have been in charge - but people said it wasn't just about budgets. Its not 'just' about budgets and we did underperform but the MAIN thing that is seeing us decline IS budget reduictions every year. Bentley has got all the slating but that's nowt he can do anything about.

Most of the land has been sold off leaving at most a couple of acres. In my view the assets are an accounting measure and bear no relation to the real position that a buyer would value the club on.

Your missing the point.

The first year at the Globe Arena , turnover increased by £1 million of which most would be attributable to the Globe's banqueting , catering and events and parties , weddings etc.

Irrespective of what assets are on the balance sheet any prospective buyer/investor is not just acquiring a League 2 football club which has just been allocated a much larger slice of Sky TV money , possibly enough to get the club close to break-even according to PMG. They would also be acquiring the Globe banqueting and catering as a going concern. IMHO the whole MFC business has not been well run , PMG losing interest etc etc. If someone with business acumen takes it over there is real potential. They may even decide the gym is worth opening for hire by the public !

I'm not missing the point but I do agree with a lot of what you've said.

If the football club went bankrupt or moved to another location could someone operate what is the Wright & Lord Suite / PMG Stand as a business and make a profit? I don't think so, which makes the asset worthless because it needs the football club to help generate the revenues.

On the last point someone with money and acumen could do a better job. For example reshaping the whole ground floor could bring the shop, ticketing and reception together saving costs and making it more efficient. The whole top floor of boxes needs a rethink. Plus better sales and marketing. Do we still have a Commercial Manager and what does he look like?

They are our two best players. It makes sense to offer them new deals whatever the terms, probably same as last season, in the hope they don't find a better deal or in the event of one they like it here so much that an extra 10% isn't worth the move. We'll only find out after the end of May when their contracts formally end.

The OWS had Fleming down as a signed on player when the latest batch of released players was announced on Wednesday.

We need big smiles on Shaun Miller and Jamie Devitt when they sign and then all the players that most people wanted to stay will be on board.

Assuming that we aren't getting investment in the playing budget, the re-signing of Fleming and Edwards is good news.

Exactly. Fleming is a real grafter and Edwards has potential. We almost have a team to put out for the first game!

As I said in a previous post...a sideways move in my opinion....just hope that he repays the faith shown in him but how many more chances should he be given..... :?: :?: :?:
