A couple of good changes that are well overdue. Injured player, where person causing injury is given a card, can receive treatment on the pitch. Stops the time wasting that it was introduced for originally, but also stops the 'fouling' side getting an advantage while genuine treatment is given.

Also 'discretion' over automatic red card for a foul stopping a goal scoring opportunity in the penalty area. So a genuine attempt to tackle isn't automatically a sending off, which is also a good move. Not sure what difference passing the ball back will make in reality? I suppose it means you don't have to have two players together kick off, but I'm not sure that was ever a problem?

I'm not sure about the red card/last man rule change. It will be difficult for referees to determine if a challenge is a genuine attempt to win the ball or if it is a deliberate foul.

I think that's mainly aimed at goalkeepers. It's a triple whammy when Baz brought down their lad at Orient he got straight red, we are down to ten, penalty and a ban.
Couple of days later , Barnet keeper does the same, just a penalty.
No difference in them at all, but both keepers went for the ball. So a good positive rule change for me.

I suspect the difference will be, if it would have been a card elsewhere on the pitch, it will still be a red card, but if it would have just been a free-kick, it will simply be a penalty.

Difficult to determine if the defender played the ball or not. Ref assumes it's a genuine attempt to win the ball so only gives a yellow card. Kane misses the resulting penalty. Vardy probably would have scored his one on one, the defender denies him the goal, stays on the field and his team remain level at 1-1. I don't see how that is fair.

If you deny a clear goalscoring opportunity, deliberate or not you should be sent off. Not sure a ban is necessary though.

I suspect he didn't send him off because it was a friendly and he'd have faced a competitive game ban. Under normal circumstances, I think he'd have gone.
