So god help you when a million pensioners, currently getting free health care in Spain, are forced to return to the UK. Or does this migrant thingie only work in the one direction?

1. The UK will be paying towards some of their healthcare costs either through the recharge system or because ex-pats have a tendency to return to the UK when they need operation and treatment anyway.

2. There are plenty of ex-pats who live outside the EU at the moment, so if it's possible, people may still decide to live in Spain even if the UK isn't in the EU.

3. The UK is paying their pensions anyway regardless of which country they live in.

4. It would crash the Spanish property market (if not their entire economy which is already on a knife-edge) if millions of ex-pats returned to the UK so Spain will do whatever it feels necessary to incentivise Brits to carry on living in Spain and spending money there.

Don't think so, they are responsible for the EU citizens living in their country. If a re-charge system existed then it still blows a hole in your argument because Britain would be doing just that. Very few ex-pats in Spain return to the UK for operations becausd the Spanish health sefvice is actually pretty good.

THIS

For those who go on about Brussels, bureaucracy and red tape, this week I've setup a company, opened a bank account, set up VAT and got it all up and running incredible easily.

Well apart from an 8 page utterly illiterate and meaningless document I had to fill in for the bank. I had to do it thanks to the British government signing an American government piece of legislation into our law.

2 million UK citizens living in Europe Keith, over 800,000 pensioners. Come on home! Now that will be a tsunami.

We can't cope with 330,000 people a year coming into the UK. Well it's actually 500,000. Cameron promised 20,000. He lied. We can't cope with that many because this government won't invest in our infrastructure bar HS2 and Hinckley (waste of money both) and the f'ing garden bridge in London.

P.S. For those who say there is no room in the most populous county Surrey there is more space devoted to golf courses than there is for all the housing added together.

Yeah but...
I was only talking about the 800,000+ pensioners! The rest are probably younger people, who'd return to look for jobs, so they aren't a worry because there will be lots of newly vacated jobs, picking cabbages and stuff.

I think this would actually be a good thing. British pensioners living in Spain is not good for the UK economy. State pensions are paid for by people comtributing now, yet the proceeds of those investments are being spent in Spain. If they were spent in the UK, they could support jobs in our own county, jobs that support the state pension.

Also, without having any factual information to back this up apart from people I know who have retired/work abroad, when people need a check-up/operation they rarely do this locally; they'll come back and get it done for free on the NHS. My friend is a financial adviser that currently lives in the south of france. A few years ago he was mugged when working in Holland (ironically by a gang of imigrants, but it could have been anyone) and in the process sustained a broken nose that consequently needed resetting because it was causing him difficulty breathing. He came back to the UK speciafically to have the operation for free.

Well Israel have been in Eurovision for years and have won it.

If they hadn't changed the voting system the Australians would have won it this year.

The Eurovision voting this year was revealing; it was split into two elements. Jugdes formed from pannels of experts firstly allocated scores, before televoting figures for each individual country were also added. Obviously in the UK you couldn't vote for the UK entry but what happened was remarkable. Poland had the worst score after judges had cast their votes (it was the worst entry, which is no mean feet given most entries are shit), yet won the overall popular vote from each country. I can only assume that their are lots of Polish people living in foreign countries who vote for their own entry (something Polish people living in Poland are unable to do) in effect making one of the biggest farces on the planet even more farcical.

If the UK border agency wanted some empirical evidence of which coutry has the largest migrant population in the UK they should track the eurovision song contest voting going forwards. Our nations favourite songs this year were:

Points
12: Lithuania
10: Poland
08: Bulgaria

Not competing in the Eurovision Song Contest would frankly be the least of our problems.

This once great nation would be reduced to a virtual wasteland. Ostracised by our nearest neighbours !

House prices would plummet, Massive job losses, Household income reduced, cost of holidays increased, Pensions reduced , nobody will want to trade with us , The Americans will be annoyed with us as well and it might even threaten the "special relationship".
To mention just a few of the predictions from the 'Remains'.

I think you may have mistaken my cynical remarks for serious debate 'Gone Shrimping'.
I have been disgusted at how hysterical the arguments have been from both sides, but the 'Remain' claims are outrageous ! Little if anything claimed by Cameron et al holds any validity , but it works, people believe this stuff !
I was shocked to see how close the polls currently are, the Remain hold a slender lead , so it might be that this Remain scare story stuff is making your 'undecided' voter suspicious.
Most serious commentators believe there will be a hiatus economically should we come out and there would obviously need to be be renegotiations here , there and everywhere. But any actual numbers / percentages/ economic meltdown predictions are disingenuous.
Its not that long ago that Cameron himself was a Eurosceptic. Rolling out the world and his wife to tell us how bad things COULD get is desperate.
