Fantastic stuff. Plenty of experience at this level. Doesn't say much for Accy that he chose us over them considering the season both clubs have had on and off the pitch.

Excellent news, just hope it proves to be a better signing than the last idiot who was a central defender.

Have to say that for a fly on the wall KS certainly spreads his wings and come up with some really positive news (at times). Now let's hear more about potential take overs or his reputation will be tarnished.

This news hasn't gone down well on AccyWeb

maccawozzagod wrote:I'd like to say good luck Deano and thanks for the memories. However, joining that shower down t'road revokes any goodwill.

Im fairly sure we've had the best of him and that he is now fast on the road to being an injury hit journeyman.

Could have been a club legend but now forever destined to be another statistic that went to Morecambe to wind down his career.

1- the people in talks with the club I don't know how much money they have or were there from
2 - looks very unlikely now with Crewe insterested. All depends on personal terms.
3 - been told he's agreed to join gillingham but that was last week heard no more since then

first thing what strikes me is Mark Hughes was ahead of him in the picking order.

also do they know something we don't what sort of injury did he have last season.?

Mark Hughes was brought in to cover for DW's injury and also to bolster their squad in terms of numbers, something that we should have done IF money had been available which we all know wasn't.... .

Accy wouldn't have offered him terms if they didn't have confidence that he'd got over his injury....especially when he was their Captain. The Accy fans in the main are upset he's gone....

What you don't hear is that the real reason he's moved is, being a Wigan lad, for the pies!

On the accy forum it says it wasnt a football related injury, he apparently tore his pec muscle, in the gym I would imagine so its probably nothing to worry about.

A quick Google search shows numerous articles claiming the injury to be to his ankle which kept him out for four months.

From the accy forum,

For the record,Dean tore his pec muscle in the gym,he had got over his ankle injury and was training like mad to get fit.
These things happen and has to have an operation on Thursday to reattach the muscle.
Hopefully back in contention end of February

I remember him suffering the injury last season and listening to radio lancs driving to one of our home games hearing Coleman describe him as the best defender in the league. With the run in Stanley had without dean in the team, it was always guna be difficult for him to get back in the side with Hughes and Davies putting a partnership together. It's clear Stanley wanted to keep him Hughes and Davies. He must of got offered a better deal to come here that's all I can think of !
