Takeover???

If it was such a lucrative plan, why hasn't an existing hotel operator already done it or even got involved with the club when land was available at the front of the stadium to progress this idea? I understand Travelodge were in talks with the club a couple of seasons ago, but ultimately opted to build a hotel in the centre of the town. Why is the club still trying to progress their own plans without an individual/group that has specialist expertise in operating a business of this type either on the board or as a partner? It'll be like the Gym and the Globe Bar & Grill - which have been massive failures for the same reasons.

Totally agree with this and earlier post. A lot to be thankful for but they've run out of ideas, imagination and money. All the schemes - corporate boxes, gym and Globe bar - have failed so let's see what someone else can do with it. It will also help parts of the club like Morecambe FC Community Sports, which does brilliantly well but is so poorly supported and promoted by the club.

Took my lad down to football training for under 6s on a saturday morning at the Globe. Only 4 turned up and the community team said " not enough to do it so come back next week" and she just wandered back to the community block.
Now if the club are paying these people. Are we in a postion to just turn down £16 ?

Definitely wrong attitude. Full explanation needed at very least. Someone needs a talking to.

And it's not a one off either. I've said before, my wife tried to arrange a birthday party for my son and got the run-around when she went down to try to book it - shop sent her to reception, reception sent her round to the community block, they took her name and number and said someone would call back, never heard anything, so phoned again, got transferred, number dialled out with no reply, message left again, still nothing heard, so just gave up and took our money elsewhere.

That's why I'm hoping for more than money being pumped in - needs new management within the ground, hopefully new owners will put in a new managing director based on site who can tackle these kinds of issue (and the marketing, or lack of!). Current management don't seem to like nor care about normal people.

The club has a General Manager who should be handling day to day issues or at least managing his staff, but as you say this is not the first time that potential customers to The Globe have been totally ignored. Customer Service in any business is paramount.....pity that our club don't seem to understand that ANY new business is welcome.

Corporate seems to be the key.

Sadly.

Wrongly.

Although Corporate is important , the club has been very poor in looking after the fans who used to inhabit the North Stand and the Car Wash. No-one will convince me that the club couldn't have relocated the North Stand from Christie to the home end at the Globe. Northwich Victoria managed to relocate the Dane Bank Stand which was the length of the pitch.

If as has been suggested money was short which is why we got that awful home end then they should have done the away end as an Accy away end with just an open terrace as it is very rarely open. The money saved could have been used on the home end.

hopefully the new regime when they take over will realise the importance of the real fans and walk-ons and make them feel more welcome , while they still look after the corporates.

That has all been extracted from the Strategic Report and Directors Report that were published last week. Nothing new there.

We filed a PFA charge at Companies House in April which was presumably a bridging loan.

Yes I'm hoping a new owner will bring a few of their own extra people with them off the field and make some changes and have fresh ideas which a new set of eyes can bring.

Where as if PMG stays then I can't really see much changing around the place.

Our credit rating with Experian has tumbled from a relatively secure 60 to a 'cash only' 19. Need that takeover to come very quickly.

In the last 3/4/5 years, no, nothing has changed under his chairmanship. The club is stagnating. NO business can stand still - it either needs driving forwards or will slump. It's clear that we've been sliding down for a few years now, hence the huge losses, need for bridging loans just to pay bills, and having to sell off assets just to keep afloat.

New ideas are needed, not just money. Without change, any new money will just be pissed away.

No denying that the club needs a new direction, but all these personal attacks against PMcG are a bit harsh in my opinion.

It's nothing new on here though, there are certain people who regularly call for the assistant manager to lose his job for example.

Guilty as charged...BUT having a pop at the guy who financed our march into the FL just seems a bit off to me.... :o :o :o

I think continues to 'Bank Role the club' seems quite appropriate.....but that appears to be insufficient in some fans eyes..... :o :o :o

Imagine where we would be if he'd decided just to walk away last season or the season before that....

Or looking at it another way, he's presiding over the pissing away of a few million pounds which was our golden legacy from the sale of Christie Park which promised a solvent future with money to pay for decent players, a self-funding club because of other income streams from the new grounds, etc.

The club is a few million in debt to directors, banks, the FA, etc and it's sold off most of it's land.

He could have borrowed money, sold off assets and invested money himself several years ago and used the proceeds to build the office block, hotel, Omega facilities, etc., all of which would have been bringing in money.

Instead, we've pissed away all that on making huge losses year after year, so we've ended up selling assets and borrowing money anyway, but without any income streams nor assets to show for it. At the end of the day, he's been forced into putting his hand in his pocket to save the club - a few years ago, he could have done the same and used that money to invest in new buildings etc.

Ken, think we'll have to disagree about a number of things concerning PMcG ;) but selling off land was to a fellow Director(s) who had/have no intention of building on it and will return it to the club for whatever was paid for it when necessary.

For the debt we've built at the Globe we'd have been better building a hospitality suite on the car wash and a hotel at the away end of Christie Park. We could then have done a deal to turn the back field into a training ground. Hindsight eh?
