This doesn't make it sound as if Jimbo had lost the dressing room which some on here were saying last season.

Get your money on relegation.
The budget has to be more than halved . Running a bottom half National league budget

So the budget is in line with the crowds we get then? Living within our means for a change.

Basically yeah.
The players have been told they have to half the budget hence why a lot left the club

So the statement by PMG about us still being an ambitious club and our aim is to get into league 1 is utter BS , there is no way we can survive on a 50 % budget cut . As for the players you can't blame them for deserting a sinking ship .

Are you sure about that or just relying on a previous poster making the claim... :?: :?: :?:

It really gets me how some can come out with such statements about the clubs budget when I suspect they haven't a clue.....

I don't think its true.

Last week on Radio Lanc's Dean Winnard said he had spoken to people he knew at the club (Lee Molyneaux and Peter Murphy) before he signed and they advised him to come. If there had been any talk from the club to the players about 50% cut in budget he quite rightly would have not signed for us.

Good luck Jamie wish you all the best. It's the first I'd heard about this one until this morning. Not guna get too down over it tho. Jamie's a great player on his day but when it starts getting physical in bad conditions I noticed he went missing too much especially during the winter months. In his first full season had a similar one to Lee molyneux. Let's hope moly can step up now and be our assist King next season !

Disregard it all you want. Until new owners come in the budget has to be more than halved. It's an absolute fact and I'm sure it will all come out in the wash.

The club lost £800k for 14/15 - probably lost another 1/2 mill for 15/16. Without inward investment, a massive cut in the players budget is the only viable option to avoid bankruptcy, as the Board's 3 year plan to turn it around failed. It's common sense - where else will a few hundred K come from if it's not cost saving, and the playing budget is by far the biggest overhead.

Exactly.

It's common knowledge to the players aswell.

Its also the most important overhead.

Everything else depends on the football side doing well.

We're DOOMED!!! Good luck Jamie with the Dumbrians! At least his last goal for us was a cracker. I imagine he will get more game time with them and not be seen as a luxury player who needs to be saved for...erm.

As outsiders, we can see how dire the financial situation at the club is.

It's rather insulting to the players to think that employees on the inside of the club are more ignorant of the situation than us - they probably know far more than most of us.

we are going around in circles again , CC will say ''its coz jim makes us play hoofball'', somebody else will say ''we never got a good cup run'' etc. but all roads lead to the same conclusion, we are a badly supported club that cannot survive in the league forever with our gates.

The board blamed it on things like cup runs and the lack of away support at re scheduled matches, but these are BONUSES, not givens, on a good year we have been losing 250,000 plus anyhow, so chuck in bad year or two and we are stuffed, so stop blaming Jim, Ken, PMG etc and look around at your workmates ,friends etc that like football but do not support the local club, they are the reason we may soon be non league again, even if we could drag in 600 ore fans a match we would still be losing money.

Thanks for the reality check MrP.

I need to get more people I know to come to games and I'll be starting today. I'm going to a meeting later and I know there will be 2 going who live in the area and are "football fans" but have never been to MFC.

Blind faith doesn't work year on year. We are losing support because we are in need of a shake up at the club. It's boring and stale under the current regime, eventually common sense prevails and many of us will cherry pick potentially interesting games. You stick with the frustration if it makes you happy, I can find better things to do with my money and time until it changes, root and branch

Thinking about the sheer number of people I know who used to be regulars or who've come down once or twice, but won't be coming back is heartbreaking. Time and time again, I've dragged down friends/family, we've suffered a crap afternoon for one reason or another (sometimes football, sometimes not), and I've been utterly embarrassed. Time and time again, I've seen someone new at the globe who I know from work or a neighbour - when I see them again, it's the same story - they won't be coming back. My brother in law was a ST holder for a great many years, he used to go to all the away games - a few seasons ago, he gave up the ST and just paid on a match by match basis to see the matches he wanted to watch, a couple of seasons ago, it was down to just 2/3 matches per year, last season, he never came down once. That's sad! I regularly talk to him (weekly), and there's no way he's coming back any time soon. Nothing to do with money/cost, he just doesn't enjoy it anymore.

The only ones I see who keep coming back are the older long-termers (whose numbers are steadily reducing), or the corporate hospitality ones who are being paid for by the few local businesses who keep buying hospitality packages, and they keep coming because it's free and for the food/social, certainly not the football, as half or less come out of the W&L to watch the second half!

Root and branch changes are the ONLY hope for the club, not just to stay in L2 but for it's very survival in any form. There are too many people out there who simply won't come back until things change, whether that's on the pitch or off the pitch. Emotional blackmail (use it or lose it) hasn't worked and won't work, simply because those lost supporters have gone, to be blunt, they don't care what happens anymore, whether we stay in L2 or get relegated, whether there's a MFC or not. Major things need to happen to get those people to start coming back again - they're completely disenfranchised with the current ownership and management (on and off the pitch) and won't be coming back any time soon until major changes happen.
