Each team will play each other once in the group stage, with the academy team getting just one home game. The knockout stages will be single ties apart from the semi-finals, where there will be two legs.

The EFL Trophy was the JP Trophy, As usual no Premier league teams can enter this.

Then there is the Capital One League Cup (EFL Cup),
and of course the Emirates FA Cup.

The EFL (English Football League) is the new name for the Football League.
We will be in Sky Sports EFL League 2.

Does this mean u21s or u18s ? It's embarrassing if it's the u21s the money and wages in man city and Chelsea's academy is ridiculous some players earn 20k a week so how are clubs like us meant to compete with them ?

The Premier League is understood to have provided £1m to create a total prize fund of £1.95m, with bonuses awarded for each win. The 16 elite academy sides will be evenly distributed throughout the groups with the 48 clubs from Leagues One and Two, with the whole competition running on a north/south basis until the final.

The competition is currently without a title sponsor as the Johnstone’s Paints contract expired last season, with Barnsley beating Oxford in the last JPT final.

At least we could possibly win some money this year instead of tins of paint !!!

Is there really enough of a shit given about this competition to justify a group stage? For god sake, we all moan about the amount of fixtures there are to play, and there are several rounds of completely meaningless, for the most part, matches to play early in the season when league games could be played so we have less to play in the winter.

As for the Premier League reserve sides, was always going to happen at some point to test the water for them entering the league. Give it a few years for the dust to settle and they'll be petitioning for them to join the league as well.
