a lot of people talking about this, but surly if they found just one tampered voting slip with evidence of it being tampered with(fouls play) then the referendum would have to be void, and I re-vote?

I only realised today that the referendum is an Advisory Referendum and the government don't have to go with the result

Are Europe going to stop buying goods from the U.K. No

17.5 million turkeys aren't wrong.

But didn't Cameron as PM advise the country to remain in the EU and campaigned accordingly? Fail to see how he is to blame, unless you are suggesting the nation should not have been given the option to vote?

This feels like a protest vote that has gone horribly wrong. The pound running to its strongest point at the close of the polling stations last night when it looked like Remain has won has now crippled to its weakest in 30 years; the stock market tanking on opening this morning.

As I said previously, some have said it's a price worth paying to get sovereignty back. I think many will now find there's a personal price they need to pay; some with their jobs. How stupid will they be feeling in Sunderland if Nissan has to relocate.

Agree 100% - for me, it was nothing to do with immigration etc (despite the remain's claiming we're all bigots) - it was my chance to give the unelected, undemocratic EU a kick in the balls and to escape from the EU before it implodes, as it inevitably will.

KenH - you're trying to spin your motives. Of course this protest vote was all about immigration. If you are serious that you only want leave because the EU is corrupt then you have been totally mislead, probably by Farage.

Are we going to stop buying goods from Europe. No But they'll be more expensive.

Are Europe going to stop buying goods from the U.K. No I think you will be wrong about this. Watch what happens with Nissan in Sunderland for example.

17.5 million turkeys aren't wrong. Hmm. Lets see. There may well be regrets a plenty.

The EU is a corrupt organisation. What was the last year that its accounts were signed off. what do you think the external auditors do?

Undemocratic EU I vote for my MEP who appoints commissioners. I think you've seen the commissioners as unelected when in fact they are commissioned by elected representatives.

KenH - come clean, please.

This was as much a vote against the establishment as it was about Europe. Voters took the opportunity to give the Government and Cameron a bloody kicking that has resulted in the loss of the Prime Minister. As a result a general election is more than not likely within the next 12 months.

An election for a new Prime Minister could well coincide with an election for a new Labour leader who can not be considered as a future leader of our country....surely :?: :?: :?:

I personally think this was a vote on immigration more than Europe by a majority of the country.

Sadly, one of my MEPs is Paul (Nutcase) Nutall. UKIP. His report of what he's been up to in Europe would probably be that he's been heckling and criticising, interspersed with personally insulting as many as he can get away with.

The silver-lining of our collective decision to leave is that UKIP now can disband and go back to being the BNP.

The PM isn't a president so there's no requirement for a general election. The next leader of the party can continue right up to the 5 year deadline.

The next leader almost certainly will be a Leaver so Michael Gove and Boris Johnson are the most likely with Teresa May as the only Remainer I can see as possible. Under any of these 3 the new cabinet will have a Chancellor of the Exchequer probably more likely to step up austerity than increase taxes. The "punishment" budget is off but increased austerity is on.

Ho Hum.

rubbish..

it was the threat of UKIP(break away Tory's) stealing Tory voters who forced the hand of the Goverment into giving British people a fair vote on the EU

UKIP will disband and Voters and MPs will go back to their favoured Political party's , left and right..

Not all the people who voted Leave are racists, not by any means. But one thing IS certain: All our racists will have voted Leave..and they will now feel more empowered.

I assume you mean Lancaster went Brexit 51%/49%, rather than 75.5%/24.5%, meaning Brexit won by 2%. Also I noticed last night the figures from London and outside being wilfully misused, even by Jeremy Vine, who I actually like. If you look into the figures, about 2 out of every 5 people outside London voted to Remain, so not as resounding a statement as has been claimed. In our little corner of Cumbria, we voted 53%/47% to remain, so it wasn't even uniformly cities versus elsewhere - notably though the large conurbations like Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, mostly voted to remain.

I do however agree with Shrimper that not all Brexiteers (by any means) are racists, as I know some very good people locally who voted to leave, and would not describe any of them as racist.

If people voted because of immigration they are going to be in for a shock when the EU tell us that to trade or do deals with them we must still have freedom of movement.

At the moment the EU have threatened to kick Switzerland out of the EU research funding pot unless they revise their immigration policy and start letting EU migrants in.

I think your first point is more the issue this is only way people have been able to stand up to the establishment and it's a bad that the only way people can be heard is on an issue as big as this.

I wonder what would have happened if the establishment had said they supported leave?
