Pre season training

Pre season training

Postby Christies Child » Wed Jun 29, 2016 11:01 am

With the weather as it is at the moment and not forecast to get better in the short term, the use of Turners Field as our regular training base will probably not be suitable for the foreseeable future.

Our management team have raised issues with it in the past and it looks like those issues will be raised again.

Not the most ideal way to start the pre season training, just hope that it doesn't have repercussions further down the line....

Dear me Neil. It's pissed it down for Pre Season Training and now we're getting relegated. I really don't know why we bother. IT's probably not raining in Fleetwood.

Never mentioned relegation of even hinted at it and if being realistic about the state of the training ground is being negative then some of the utter crap posted by others concerning the reduction in budgets and offers of a loss of 50% in their pay packets to Jamie and Shaun is a bloody well more negative than anything I post.

Ok. I'm sure that one days rain will completely fuck our chances this season.

So, to be clear here, you have no information that the training ground may or may not be usable, you're just choosing to decide for yourself that it will be.

Instead of posting stuff on no basis about nothing, could you just not post once in a while? For someone who complains of others posting negative stuff, perhaps you need to take your own advice once in a while.

At least the rain should be washing any dust off the (once red) seats....

Nice and sunny outside now, so would you care to reassess your opinion?

It has been talked about and THIS is FACT, as I was involved in them, That they need a water supply to Turners Field as it is too dry and hard, Thus suggesting to me it drains very well?

IF my post has got it wrong, then I'm big enough to say so..... :o BUT there's no disputing the fact that last season rain played havoc on training and with the amount that we've had of late and forecast it MAY well happen again. That to me is being realistic. If others see it as being negative..so be it.

Could be my eye sight but watching the Stockton interview on Player I noticed towards the end of the interview it showed Cole training with lads at a 'puddle free' Turners Field and a young lad with fair hair appeared in the back ground. He isn't someone I instantly recognised but he may be one of the new pros OR even another potential signing.... :?: :?: :?:

I seem to recall Rod Taylor and a team of volunteers digging trenches for the drainage a couple of years back.

Can anyone wanting to watch training go in via the Dallam Avenue entrance or is there another place ?

There is access from Broadway by the bridge, St. Andrew's Avenue I think it's called.
At the end of there, a footpath begins which goes right across the school playing fields to Arnside Crescent and Thirnton Road.
As you walk down the footpath, the training is on the left side.
I watched training at the start of last season from there.

There's a training report now on Facebook.

The squad are staying over at Ocean Edge tonight before going for a day of endurance in the Lake District tomorrow from 7am to 7pm.

Now on the OWS as shown below :

What a choice, training camp on the Algarve, or Ocean Edge Caravan Park
