What Are Our Dreams For New Season?

Postby Bara brith » Thu Jul 14, 2016 10:05 am

It's that time of year when we all think of the season ahead, and what it may hold
An Fa cup third round trip to the Emirates( so disappointing last few seasons)
A team that will become Morecambe Legends
A trip to Wembley for the playoffs
A team that plays with passion and Pride, and the crowds come flocking back to the Globe

My only dream for this year is to finish 22nd or higher, anything else is a bonus until all the off field issues are resolved.

A season where we aren't constantly looking at the results below hoping others are doing worse than us .

FA Cup run with a trip to a top six team in the Prem would be nice. A surprise promotion push would also be dreamy.

Realistically I still think we will hold our own, albeit finishing lower mid-table.

As others have said, 22nd+! We desperately need a decent cup run... The JPT run last season gave us next to nothing whereas if Jim had concentrated more on the other two cups we may have had a top draw team...

A season based upon other teams worrying about us rather than us worrying about everyone else (especially when the teams we worry about are bottom of the league and being battered by everyone else  )

Dreams... Yes, a good couple of cup runs, preferably with a couple of TV appearances to boost the coffers. Everton at home in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

And 22nd or higher!

for Jim to decide his best 11 and formation, before the season starts, and let teams worry about us.

and bollox to this rotating and messing players about, just look what Leicster did with a small group and making little changes when necessary .

I may be making 5 out of 2 plus 2, but given the 1. the additional pace 2. number of attacking triallists we have and 3. playing at wingback I have a feeling Barky could be on the move.
I hope 2 plus 2 makes 4 and I'm wrong.

Preparing to be shot down by the usual suspects , but I think the number of decent quality trialists added to our existing 15 contracted players suggests to me that the takeover/buy out is imminent. (retreat to put my tin hat on !)

Well as I said in a previous thread, a person in the know expects a deal to be done before Grimsby.
I also would like a more settled team selection so I have some idea what's going on, never mind the players!

I thought you would have wanted the woodwork hit 130 times, 500 corners, 200 bookings and 10 sendings off

Well if I'm going to dream then it has to be better than 22nd that sounds more like a nightmare, seriously though we have to aim for the playoffs I'm not saying we should achieve that but if we go into the season with no ambition and survival as our only goal then I fear the worst. It doesn't necessary follow that because we had a bad season last time that this one will be the same.

The home form has to improve if we are going to increase the support, a good cup run in one or more of the cups would help and of course the sale of the club to go through sooner than later.

The defence looks much better than last season although that wouldn't have been difficult.

Wakefield looks a good right back , Conlan and McGowan can compete to be left back. Winnard , Edwards and If we can sign Rose would make central defence more secure. So hopefully no repeat of conceding 90+ goals. If we can reduce goals against to about 50 like the 14/15 season then better results will ensue.

Can we emulate the 70 ish we scored last season without Miller and Devitt ? Time will tell.

I completely agree with all of that - exactly what I was thinking. Tbh, the midfield is looking a bit weak with Wildig and Molyneuix being our only decent attacking mids - Wildig is made of glass and Molynieux barely got a look i last season. Defensive midfield is sorted with Murphy. Kenyon & Fleming just in front maybe?
I think we just have to see what happens over the next few week regarding the sale of the club, trialists and friendlies and we can go from there.
