Hedley played in the second game who was down on the list as a substitute, not a triallist.

Don't think he was to be honest. I think it was Smalley, Turner, Croasdale and McDonald at the camp who we didn't know at the time.

Daly can be seen here playing in the Bamber Bridge game: https://www.flickr.com/photos/129430412 ... 131970593/

Turner is on the left of Edwards as you look at the photo. Daly is to the right next to McDonald.... :?: :?: :?:

Still don't know who the midfield trialist with no number on his shirt v Bury was... :(

Smalley next to Edwards.
Turner next to Fleming
McDonald below Murphy
Croasdale above McGowan

I would have thought that any trialists who went on the Cassius trip were serious contenders to be offered a contract.

Those sort of training courses don't come cheap so I would think the club would only pay for players already contracted or likely to be.

....and yet another one made an appearance last night in the final 15 minutes and played mainly down the right wing. Only name I could catch was 'Josh'......so clueless to who he was.... :?: :?: :?:

Spot on by the looks of him.

A right winger / midfielder with quite a few League games under his belt.

Could he be another Jamie.... :?: :?: :?:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Carson

According to a few Yorkies, he suffered a career threatening tackle v Portsmouth and hasn't been the same player since, BUT a change of club would be the best for him and his future. He played for York in our final home game last season so possibly he caught the eye of our Management team.... :?: :?: :?:

Heard the same from my York supporting friend. Put on a lot of weight too at one point. Another Milleresque gamble but without the previous pedigree.

Harry Worley & Josh Carson playing at Halifax today. I think Worley is the centre back that played previously who Christies Child was very impressed with.

I thought he looked a decent player. Fylde will probably be throwing money at players like confetti to try and get into the Conference.

We can sign as many trialists as you like but unless they can be organised and moulded into a workmanlike team it has been a waste of time. That is the key question for the new owners. Do we have a management team capable of developing an effective squad to do well in League 2? The signs are not good. After a preseason of focusing on the defence we conceded plenty in the defeat by Halifax. Last season the defence was consistently abysmal and yet no improvement was evident. Another season of shedding goals and further questions will inevitably be asked about our coaching and organisation.

Surely you can't deny that after a pre season working exclusively on our defensive shape that yesterday suggests that the same old problems of not defending corners, not marking our opponents close enough and not stopping the oppositions midfield for dominating our powder puff midfield are still with us.

I read a report of the game and the number of times it commented about our inability to win headers in our box sounds all too familiar.

How many times did we read and hear of similar experiences last season and the continued comments of the management team about working to put it right.

Sorry to say but for me on the evidence of yesterday little has changed despite new changes in defensive players.

Their 6'3" powerhouse, Peniket was causing all sorts of problems in our defence. I think thats 6 now hes scored in pre season. Finished his day with 2 goals in the last 5 minutes as we capitulated in the heat.

I'd like somebody like that, then at least when our players start hitting long balls to get out of trouble , it's effective .
