EFL Trophy Draw

They should start the EFL off pre-season. I bet there are more there on Saturday than there will be for the Stoke game, boycott or otherwise. Pre-season, fans will watch anything and it is more acceptable to play a 'development' side when it doesn't really matter. Trying to make it look like a serious competition by letting top clubs under 12's play is a nonsense.

So how did that work out then?

They have called it under 21, then under 23. Now they have gone further to say that only 6 starters have to be under age, giving fans the anticipation that 1 or 2 of their "coming back to fitness" superstars might turn up.

The Football League have really given in on this one, it shouldn't be called the Football League Trophy at all - because it isn't!!

Prem teams want less games so I can't understand why the don't just remove Prem teams from the league cup and scrap this tinpot cup...

The original reason for it was to give a cup competition that League 1 & 2 clubs had a realistic opportunity of winning and getting to Wembley. Now they're doing away with that. Still, at least we'll get some money :?

I read somewhere that the League felt that the original format wasn't working and hence the change.

Although I will be at the home games I personally feel that once again the League are riding rough shod over the lower leagues due in part to overpowering representation of the Premier league.

It might have improved it if they had changed it to little groups of 4 football league clubs with them being as local as possible. We could have had Carlisle , Accrington and Bury in our group which would have been watchable.

Boycott for me, attendance means supporting the new format which is just the pre amble to allowing Prem league dev squads into the f/l.........it is the start.......it's a real shame because it gives the lower league sides the chance of a fantastic day out at Wembley......obviously I was there last season and it really was a top day out.......tell the 60k or so who were at Wembley that it is just a tin pot trophy........unfortunately the Prem league, which is divorced from the F/L anyway call all the shots in football today......

Portsmouth have planned a walk out. By initially attending the matches the club will still receive the gate receipts.

People wishing to boycott the EFL Trophy but not hurt their club could make donations to club funds maybe in some sort of joint effort organised by someone so that a large lump sum is donated.

Donations are not subject to V.A.T. either.
