EFL Cup round 2 draw

EFL Cup round 2 draw

Postby Brian C » Wed Aug 10, 2016 8:11 am

Fantastic result last night, even though BBC NW news this morning mentioned every other Lancashire club except Morecambe !!!

The second round draw will take place after the Aston Villa v Luton live game on Sky tonight.
The draw will be live on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports News HQ at approx. 10pm.

Who do you fancy in the next round?

BBC Radio Accrington, sorry, Lancashire only gave us a split second mention on their sports bulletin at 8.30 too.

However, they did give plenty of mention about Accy's 11-10 win and an interview with Preston's Simon Grayson...

Next round?? Something to generate us some coinage please. Or, Oldham Athletic, away.

Radio Lancashire were too busy gushing about "10 man Accrington's 11-10 penalty shoot out win over League 1 Bradford"

Either something very winnable (is there such a thing !) at home or a monster like Liverpool or Everton.

Is it still a north/south divide? Having looked at last seasons 2nd round fixtures it wasn't, so potentially we could play away to Brighton! If Liverpool are drawn at home they will play away due to their stadium redevelopment.

Premier League clubs: Liverpool, Stoke, Chelsea, Everton, Swansea, Watford, West Brom, Bournemouth, Palace, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Burnley, Hull.

The three relegated clubs Newcastle, Norwich and Villa also enter at this stage.

There's no North South regionalisation in the draw.

A few years back we got the "prize" of Millwall away in the 2nd round !

If we draw Liverpool away, the fixture gets switched back to the globe and we get additional income off Liverpool

Very good tie for us. A team (and manager) we've beaten before at our level, who are now making a name for themselves at the top level with some very good players. This needs marketing properly!

Super draw!

Must be Wenesday 24th with them playing PL game on the Sunday late afternoon before.

I doubt it'll be on telly as there are clearly bigger ties out there.
