I know the Visitor isn't the flavour of the month with many of you at the moment. Here is my piece for this week, (Not been published online!)
Could history repeat itself this Wednesday as Morecambe FC prepare to take on Bournemouth of the Premier League in a Capital One cup match.
Cast your mind back to Saturday 12th December 2009, we played the very same team in a League 2 fixture at Christie Park - then on level terms. The result was a resounding 5-0 thumping of the Cherries, will the God's be looking down on us this time?
The victory was Morecambe's seventh straight win and propelled us to the giddy heights of 7th in the league table. Bournemouth were second and probably expected the game to be a formality against us former Conference upstarts.
Swelling our crowd that day was the ships company of HMS Trafalgar. They had been on parade in Lancaster that morning as part of their subs decommissioning. They were official guests of the club; what a match to have attended!
Eddie Howe, Bournemouth's manager, told BBC Radio Solent he was "bitterly disappointed with the performance and of course the result." Eddie went on to manage Burnley not too long after that game but has since returned to the South Coast outfit to guide them into the Premier League.
Howe will not underestimate Morecambe FC in this cup tie. He would be wise to research our previous victories in this competition when our opposition expected an easy ride. Preston, Wolves (twice), Coventry, Barnsley and Rotherham have all succumbed to the Shrimps in this competition. We also gave Newcastle a good run for their money three seasons ago, dubious decisions from the officials being our undoing that night.
Bournemouth are presently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table. They failed to spoil West Ham's new stadium party on Sunday and they were beaten by Man Utd on opening day.
They will arrive at a buoyant Globe Arena to face the leaders of League 2; nothing to lose - lots to gain. Echoes of 2009 in the back of their minds; David v Goliath - cup shocker?
