The term "Legend" is very subjective.
One person's Legend is another's very good player or manager, but not a Legend.
Another factor is length of time. There have been many players who have made a great contribution to the Morecambe FC cause over a shorter period of time.
Then there are players who have had longer careers at the club, and have contributed their particular skills over several seasons.
Which is more worthy of the term "Legend"?
For me, it's not about picking my favourite player, who would be a legend in my eyes,but considering the contribution factor of managers and players who have helped us get to where we are today in 2016.
Managers and players are the category so my thoughts would be that the following should be considered for all the reasons I have given:
Ken Waterhouse, Manager of the treble winning team of 1967-68 (Lancs Combination, Combination Cup and Lancs Senior Cup)
Maybe one photograph of the 1974 F.A.Trophy winning team led by manager Dave Roberts, as this was the first national trophy the club won,and one of our two Wembley victories.
Jim Harvey, who made a massive contribution in developing younger players and creating a winning team who won promotion to the Conference in 1994-95.
Sammy McIlroy and Mark Lillis, who got us over the line and into the Football League in 2007.
Stewart Drummond for his long service to the club.
Jim Bentley for being the captain who lifted the play off trophy at Wembley, and a leader and inspirational figure.
These are a few of my thoughts.

I'd definitely include Jimbo, if only for his contribution as a player. His playing days are over and no matter whether he goes on to fail or succeed as a manager, he will always be remembered as a brilliant servant and captain of our Wembley winning side. I think it's completely appropriate to include him.

If he goes on to manage us into the premiership over the next 20 years then we'll just include him twice

The term "Legend" is very subjective.

Yup, very true. I listed some of the best players but legends are often the more obscure but memorable characters that brightened up the club at certain points in our history. Here's a couple that spring to mind:

- Kensuke Takano. Morecambe's most exotic player who became the first Japanese player to score in the FA Cup at that crazy night on Emley Moor. Rumours are he played for a pie and pint after his student visa stopped him playing for money.

- Dave Perkins. Local lad that despite being five foot nothing outbattled most six foot Conference cloggers. Unbelievably consistent but couldn't hit a barn door with a shovel until the infamous day he scored. Went on to become one of our most successful academy products playing 10+ years in the higher divisions.

One player that comes to mind to illustrate my point about players making an impact but not being a Legend although he lit up Christie Park for the short time he was with us would be Carl Baker.
I think the emphasis should be on long service, contribution and winning trophies.
