Morecambe 2 (Rose, Stockton) Crawley 3 Live Player thread

We're not guna be any better off this season if we can't win games like today which should of been a comfortable win and game over before they scored. Ok we had hard luck with murphys goal getting ruled out but we need to be more clinical infront of goal ! Also everyone might not agree with me on this one but I think jack dunn needs to take a long hard look at himself after recent performances. His work rate is poor and it seems he's only interested when the balls played to his feet and doesn't want to work for his team mates. I'd take him out the team for a few games !

I said the same after Donny...then he turned a defeat into a win at Cambridge. Impossible to leave him out today after that. Be fair.

It's funny how different people view a game. I thought the first have was pretty even we had a couple of half chances and long range efforts which their keeper made the saves more spectacular. Crawley had slightly better ball retention than us but did little in the final 3rd .

We had a perfectly good headed goal by Murphy ruled out for an incorrect offside decision which might have changed things but in general I thought our play in the 2nd half was sloppy. We gave the ball away on numerous occasions and don't get me started on our awful defending. Our 2 cracking goals paper over a pretty inept 2nd half performance and as another poster pointed out we didn't up the tempo of our play until we were 1 nil down.

I'm more concerned after today's game than I was after the Doncaster thrashing. Today we were up against an awful team that lacked any fight and began time wasting after 50 minutes! We had an opportunity today to take the game to our opponents, dictate the play, show what we can do and get 3 points.

It has been mentioned before than we often lack a plan B and we fail to react to situations in a game but today I'm not even sure we had a plan A. It was clear whatever the plan was, it wasn't working and very little was done to try something different.

Jack Dunn had another poor performance but I don't think how we're using him suits his game. I'd much rather see him play out wide and have him cutting inside causing defences problems. Although he spends too much time with his head down, I don't think he gets enough support when in possession in the middle.

Going forward we lacked imagination and ideas trying the same balls through the middle which their 2 centre-backs (who I thought both played well) dealing with everything. We played with 2 wide players but I don't think we ever tested either full-back. Defensively we looked unorganised again. I called Crawley's 3rd goal a good 5-7 seconds before it went in, I could see what was unfolding from 100 yards behind the opposite goal!

Frustrating day and another poor performance that'll lose a few more fans.

It's all about opinions on here. Mine? Thought we played quite well as did they without every threatening, but we did look more likely to score to me.
It seemed it would poodle to a nil nil draw, but then it all exploded after the crap decision of the disallowed goal.
Scabby deflection for their first, but second the third were preventable, but at the moment we are leaking at the back but looking OK going forward.
Two decent goals for us, thought we deserved a point but if we beat a Barnet we are three points to the good, and the next two games are away, where we appear to be tighter!

Really unlucky to lose today. Nothing wrong with the disallowed goal from where I was sat almost level in the PMG. Was looking like 0-0 then five goals in 20 mins gave us a thriller. Two class goals from Rose (when was the last time we scored direct from a free kick?) and a belter from Stockton.

Not too disappointed but that's now four home defeats on the trot. Really poor attendance, so think we might even be outnumbered by Carlisle in a couple of weeks.

I am one of those that thought Crawley were bang average and we should have gone to town on them. We had plenty of pressure in the first half but if the cross ball punt to Barky doesn't work, we struggle to break teams down.

We gave away three soft goals and once again they come from the flanks and result in an easy finish in the six yard box. We should have scored in the first half when Barky and Mullin overplayed it in their box after a great run from Rose.

A valient effort in the last five doesn't cover up for not being able to kill them off earlier. We should never have lost that game.

I think we had a good first half but they snuffed us out 2nd half. We didn't seem to have a plan B so had to try and break them down. I didn't have a great view of their goals but they seemed to be soft. Our two excellent strikes proved to be too little, too late, and had it not been for the goals we conceded we could have deservedly come away with at least a point. In my view, today was a step in the right direction from the last home defeat. All is not lost...

After 3 home defeats in the spin I'd like to see jim set up differently next home game with mussanka up top with Stockton and leave Dunn out as I think he'd have more of an effect on the game as an impact player. He's only a young lad learning but just because he's on loan from Liverpool doesn't mean he should start automatically. I'm one of the few who he's frustrated massively in a number of games now home and away !

I think Liverpool insist on a 75% start for all there loan players .... so leave him out 1 in 4 max.

The linesman was behind play a few times today and messed up the disallowed goal.
If we could play the rest of the game like we played the last 5mins we would be destroying teams.

Thought we should've been 2 nil up by half time, it then seemed to be the attitude of we will win in a minute. They score a raggy goal and we went to pieces again! The disallowed goal made an impact i think. But 4 straight defeats at home is very poor! No wonder crowds are low. I'd like to know who super-glued Bentleys chairs together and nicked his phone!! :D He stayed on his feet longer than his last match for us yesterday! Very animated too, wonder why that was?

Another poor home performance against a very average team. I didn't understand why Cole Stockton was on the subs bench and the moment he came on we looked a lot more threatening. Teams realise we are weak down the left side of defence. I can't work out if its because Conlan's defensive work is not good enough or if he is left isolated by team mates. One striker at home is disastrous and we don't press teams enough. Crawley came expecting to be beaten but as the game progressed they realised they could get something out of it. The use of substitutes is poor, always about 10-15 minutes too late and why have we signed Massanka if we are only going to give him a few minutes. The new owner who was at the game can't be happy to see what we offer on the pitch and it can only be a matter of time before big changes are made. Michael Rose stands head and shoulders above anyone else at the moment on the playing side- a quality midfielder who can take a good freekick.

As I said earlier. There are lots of things, like knocks and illness that fans can't know about. So maybe bear that in mind before making assumptions and having a go..

And some comments on here sound very arrogant, like 'we should be beating average teams like Crawley'..

Normally I would agree with you but I think saying things like that is fair having watched the game.

Crawley were easily the worst side we''ve faced at home this season and I would have been disappointed with a draw, never mind a defeat! It was as good a chance as we'll get all season to gain 3 points at home and our abject display has gifted the points to the opposition.

Agreed , we won't face many worse teams than Crawley at home this season. They were wasting time from the 50th minute and would have been happy with a 0-0 draw.

Crawley were awful and were set up for a draw. They sat on the halfway line when we had the ball and never showed any attacking intent until they realised we were toothless. How on earth can it be arrogant to expect to beat as poor a side as Crawley at home? It sounds like Trevor has the same book as Jimbo when it comes to managing expectations.

They beat Luton in their previous game.. But, yeah, a disgrace that we can't beat sides like that.

What they did against Luton is irrelevant, we're judging it on what was on the field for 90 minutes against us. They were very beatable and we should have got 3 points.

Trevor you're boring. Everyone here was at the game yesterday, they can see what was before them which was by far the worst team we have seen so far this season. Get over yourself.

Not disagreeing that we should have won. We should because, in my opinion, we played well and created enough chances. I thought we looked the better side on the day.
Where we don't agree is that I take positives from that and I don't think Crawley were poor and I don't think yesterday was something to be downbeat about looking ahead. Each to their own..

Excellent first half where we didn't capitalise. Bit complacent in the second against a very poor side who had a huge slice of luck in their victory. Defensively need to improve but if that offside goal had stood it would have been a different game. Officials (as usual) have been poor for us at home this season. Like others have said: When are we going to get some decisions and a bit of fortune!
