26 CA may well have been Chunky Adams car but it wasn't him driving it . Was walking into ground when it parked up , it was a younger lad driving it . Sure he got off the team coach

Costly last night, Winnard groin, Kenyon knee and Wildig ankle all out for the near future. Edwards off with a dead leg, Rose suspended.
Flemo not quite ready to return.
Murphs, who isn't yet fully up to speed, is our only fit midfielder for Saturday.

We played very well in the first half, and took our chances.
Jennings and Wakefield will be OK for Saturday, hopefully Edwards will recover, we have loads of forwards and wide men fit, so all out attack?? !!!!

From a Stoke page:

Eleven strangers set up 3-5-2 for 20 mins. After 2 mins Haugaard and Edwards no communication on a simple pass with an opponent behind you. Edwards evening got worse trying to win a tackle after a miss control slid into a Morecambe player so sent off. Then Bardsley watched a punt go over his head as a striker chased it 30 yards out closed in as Haugaard stood on his line.

Then it was shoot and save between Adam and the Morecambe keeper. Adam played school playground football by beating several players at a time before shooting or chipping it the Diouf. Morecambe then tried many different fouling techniques to stop Charlie.

In the second half a Morecambe sub came on and passed a love letter to a teammate who read it before tucking it into his sock.

Was that the chap sat right under the executive boxes? I was looking down at his notes but couldn't read them unfortunately.

But other than that he bossed the show

Yes he did , but makes a farce of it being a development squad. The average age of Stoke was probably higher than Morecambe with Barry , Kev and Michael Rose not in the starting line-up.

Yes, that was him mate. He was manager at Hartlepool briefly and had a spell coaching Barra' last season.

Some pretty low crowds there. Ours was actually fairly respectable. Wonder if this is enough of a message though to see the academy teams kicked out for next season?

I'd certainly hope so, but at the end of the day, you attend to support your team and club.

Not an easy decision to make to boycott a match but if you want things to change then its the only way to voice your opinion. Pompey fans can't be accused of not supporting their club but look at the message their fans sent last night. Just hope its enough as I quite like the Football League Trophy.

I agree entirely, and I liked the Freight Rover Leyland Daf Auto Windscreens Johnstone Paint Trophy exactly how it was prior to the re-jig, and I hope to goodness that these Under 23 Development Squads are excluded from next seasons competition.

Personally, I went to support my team as the thought of sitting at home in front of the tv whilst they played a home game (to me anyway - and each to their own) is unthinkable.

I fully respect the decisions of those who last night chose not to attend.

But at the same time voicing your opinion, which you're entitled to do, does directly damage the club financially. It isn't Morecambe or indeed any clubs fault that the format of what is a traditionally a poorly attended competition has been changed by the powers that be.... they are however obliged to play in it, host games and incur costs for doing so.

I know fans from some clubs involved in these protests (Portsmouth and Luton spring to mind) have coordinated themselves to donate the portion of the gate money (45%) that their club would have received had they attended. Unfortunately nobody as far as I could tell seemed forthcoming with this kind of suggestion. If anybody is looking for a way of indirectly doing this, join the supporters club for £5 and receive local discounts whilst helping the club in the process.

Personally I liked the competition how it was and we have done will in it whilst we have been FL members - but it has always been used as a bit of a guinea pig to try things, e.g, the regionalised draw which throws up some local games has now been adopted by the League Cup. IMO it did need some tinkering. I'm not totally against the idea of U23 teams taking part - but when it was apparent that only Everton of the top teams wanted to participate then this idea should have been put on the back-burner for a season until everyone agreed the format changes.

I boycotted and will donate my gate money to the club this Saturday.

The competition is a joke. For example, Bradford started, as per the rules, with five players from their previous match. They then got round the rules by substituting their keeper after 3 minutes because, "“I thought he had a poor 45 seconds,” said the assistant manager Kenny Black after Bradford’s 2-1 victory, in a direct snub to the new rules".

...and £10,000 better off for the win. Excellent entertainment, glad I went..... :D :D :D

One thing was apparent to me was that the first 45 minute performance by Stoke showed how unused to playing a normal physical British type game they appeared to be BUT a certain Charlie Adam did his best to cripple as many of our players as was possible in the final 45....and by the sounds of it succeeded.

BUT I'd welcome Charlie if it ever became possible for us to one day sign him. Better on our side than the oppositions. He's a talented player who takes no prisoners....reminds me a bit of our Yard Dog of seasons past.

Gonna stick up for Charlie Adams and say his challenge on Kenyon was a great tackle. I was right behind it and he was just stronger

Certainly sounds as if the top teams think it's great experience for their youngsters.......so guess it'll get the go ahead next year whatever the boycott is like!

If the League 1 and 2 clubs vote against it then what the top clubs think won't matter.

I think the financial argument is a pretty weak one as there are plenty of ways to give £8 to the club. I will probably buy a handful of halftime draw tickets on Saturday.

Morecambe's board voted for the changes based I guess largely on the the financial incentives offered by the elite clubs, who pretty much bought their entry into the competition.

Look at other European leagues and their lower leagues are full of B and C clubs from their top clubs that play in front of tiny crowds. Is this really the way we want to be heading?

I understand why many chose to go last night but for me I was never going to go to this fixture. The game against Bradford might be different, however if fans are to make a stand against the changes, it may be boycotted also.

What was FCOM's stance on the changes? I imagine the Clubs with the most significant boycotts came from their supporters clubs encouraging a united response.

The £10k would probably have been swallowed up last night covering the regular costs and to make up for the poor attendance .
In a strange way the injuries are going to change the shape of Saturday's team which will make the Carlisle spotters report from last night less useful to them.
