Top 10 tips for alienating your fans

I could add more gripes to the list but think Diago and Abdul have enough now to be working on for now. :D

I personally think things will start to change now and for a business to have a forum that taps into the mood of its customers must be invaluable.

So, Gone_Shrimping - please don't think I'm being arsey or having a go mate, but...
Pretty sure I answered all of your questions in my posts.

For example, last home game I went to, took my Dad (bad back)... (that's my point), no tables to sit at, plenty of room available by the way, for loads more tables.... (suppose we aren't worth it)... no chairs to sit on.... but a massive stack of unused chairs stacked in the corner of the room tucked away... it's all arse over tit. I would love to come in there and give it a massive kick up the arse.

I've not been at all this season, been to just about every home game sinice 2007, Wembeley got me hooked.

I also don't expect to win every game, but our home form is unacceptable.

been keeping a close eye on things, but won't return untill there's a change of attitude with the club on/off the pitch.

The SADARSE meetings arranged by 2 if tbe directors were set up to improve liason between fans and
the club, anyone who expressed an interest could attend, few did though, it was unfortunate that whilst these meetings have been taking place the takeover has been going on ,so decision making has been up in the air, hopefully things will now improve though, M Hinchcliffe, a director, who organised these meetings, is a very personable and friendly lifetime fan, who Listens, so seek him out and air your grievances.

Pretty sure I answered all of your questions in my posts. BTW, I am a lifetime season ticket holder from Christie days, which makes it even worse - (that I can't be arsed anymore!) What does that tell you, you really think you need to ask the likes of me to tell you what's gone wrong, or what needs to change? I mean come on, ffs! It hasn't 'just' happened 'over night'.
I have loads of ideas for the future of our Club, but really can't see them happening, nobody seems to listen!

I saw your post and I was asking if the club could do anything to repatriate fans that have given up attending matches for a myriad of reasons.

As MPH mentions director Mike Hinchcliffe is a very amenable person to approach with any suggestions.

Just wanted to post this here as you're all falling into the trap again of having a whinge about the ground and match day experience as reasons why crowds are low when it's the product on the field that's the issue:

It certainly doesn't take long for a poor performance on the pitch to come round to the well documented issues at the ground.

Hopefully now with new blood at the helm something will be done to address the undoubted ongoing issues.

We could do with the Roman Army to help it along, would be handy on the pitch too

I think it is both.
If people enjoyed the football, they would be more forgiving of The Globe.
If people enjoyed going to The Globe, they would be more forgiving of the football.

If people aren't enjoying either, then they will find something else to do.

We had plenty of grim times at Christie Park but still enjoyed the day.

People moan less about the Globe when we're playing well. But are you really suggesting that a lot of the valid points raised in this thread and others aren't issues that could be addressed to improve things for everyone?

I had the fortune of not being there on Saturday, but it seems to have been a tipping point for many that will take some effort to turnaround by the club. There's been a lot of knee-jerk, a lot of anger, but a lot of very good points raised.

Up the takeover, the club was going nowhere (at best - at worst we were heading backwards, quickly) on and off the field. The new owners don't really have any choice other than to start listening to fans if they want to turn stuff around. It isn't just on the field that's the issue, it's many fans feel they have been completely ignored and taken for granted that they will just turn up week on week and put up with it - and that's starting to not be the case.

So whilst you have a point, please don't dismiss this thread so glibly.

No, my point is that everyone is willing to overlook or simply isn't bothered by The Globe / Match Day Experience when we are winning.

People trot out things like "my mate hasn't been for 2 years because the queue is too long for a pie at half time". Whilst I accept these things are valid complaints I don't for one minute think people aren't turning up to games because of these issues (although I accept there will be a handful of people who will be).

If the football was good and we were winning then yes all these complaints would still be valid but they wouldn't stop people turning up to the games.

There have been complaints about the Globe since it opened. As you said, less when we're winning than when we're not, but complaints nonetheless. Fewer sweeping generalisations please.

A lot of the problems have relatively simple, cheap solutions, or the club have said they will look into stuff and then go silent, leading to yet more feeling of alienation by some fans. Given that it feels like we may never win another match at the Globe again, perhaps the board should do something so that the ever decreasing band of people who turn up actually feel welcome at the ground.

It's all part of the crap experience and yes, there will be some who no longer come because of the poor environment as well as poor football. It's enough to tip some over the edge to not bother.

Another valid point, though, is the loss of revenue from the refreshment queues and prices - if people bring their own rather than suffer a queue or a wait in the rain, or to avoid exorbitant prices for a pretty crap hot dog, that's money lost to the club. It needs addressing. We used to buy a drink and hot dog, but we've given up and bring our own drink and bag of crisps these days. That's best part of a tenner per game that the club lose from us alone.

Ever reducing crowds are the evidence that people are just fed up of the club's offerings, on and off the pitch.

Pretty much everyone I have spoken to regarding the new place has at least one complaint (prices of drinks/food are well up there). Yes, it's a business, but it's finally starting to bite them on the bum by people/loyal fans giving up and going elsewhere. It wouldn't take a lot (taking the quality of football out of the equation), reduce the bar prices and re-vamp the bar - its bloody awful - depressing! No atmosphere or life to it. The fact the location is now out of town is a pisser, but not something anyone can help. If it was a more appealing, friendly, fun place to drink before and after, then it's so far away from anywhere else, people would stop afterwards, myself included. Instead, D&P £1.80 a pint.... or a massive jump up to £2 if there's no football on... Point made I think. I've voiced my crappy moans about the Berlin Wall being of a worse standard than the Carwash many times on here, so no need to go there. (Not much that can be done about that suppose)... I just don't come any more, full stop.
Unfortunately, for many different reasons, seems I am not alone.

Is it against the law to charge 2 prices in the same establishment? £3.50 for a pie in North terrace and £3.20 in Omega. Both are standing terraces.

I think you pay a 30p premium for a box with a lid to keep your pie dry whilst it hammers it down on the North Terrace ;)

(I say we, but as it would be hypocritical of me to say 'we endure', I say it coming from a Morecambe fan...). I witnessed enough last season and a couple this seasons before I finally spit my dummy out and thought enough is enough. We played a fantastic game against Bournemouth, which I personally witnessed... so why does it go so very wrong against teams we should really be beating? That has got to be down to management and tactics full stop. As I stated after we lost to Bournemouth, if we played like that and lost every week it would be entertaining! - and everyone who witnessed that game would want to return if they were true fans... but no, all change, back to last season, clueless hoofs, pointless substitutions, no touchline enthusiasm... = shite management full stop and never admits he was wrong. Fed up of hearing the small club, no money, batting above our weight crap, we can play better and we have!!! Players do have a lot to answer for, but please, Jim has a team of players and appears to be doing no better than Tom, Dick or Harry, or anyone on here at picking them to play or even substituting them. We could have a vote on here as to the team and who plays and probably wouldn't do any worse at home - I challenge anyone to disagree with that.

Amazing if you go back and read all the early posts about Jim and his excuses and 12 months later nothing has changed and people are posting identical posts tonight.

The attendances have dropped mainly because of the crap football on offer. The globe experience will put a tiny percentage off from attending yet if the quality of football is shocking whose going to part with their money? Personally I think there needs to be a massive shift in tactics to a more sttacking approach though the management team has had ample time to try a more attacking approach and haven’t bothered! I’m one of the missing fans and I won’t part with my hard earned £18 for admission until something improves as this is a lot of money for me!

Muppets on facebook don't help with their "don't like don't come" bollocks. These "fans" are killing the club with their short sighted views.

Agreed , if Morecambe was playing good football , winning matches and scoring goals I would go even if they were playing on a field with a fence round it. People aren't staying away because of the Globe , it is what is happening on the pitch that is driving them away.
We know Jim reads this forum and it can't make pleasant reading for him today.
Play Osbourne Jim , he came on against Accrington and got an assist for Kevin's goal with a beautiful chip to the far post. Play the young lad from Wigan , he looks sharp. Play young Lavelle , a footballing centre-back who can come out with the ball and make a telling pass. Let's make Forest Green the last straw and start showing some real heart and bottle.

I just don't think that the management have the balls to change the playing line up by starting with the likes of Osbourne, Lavell or the lad from Wigan who came to us because he showed a lot of potential at Wigan but needed to experience first team football of the raw variety.

Prove me wrong Jim and Co.

Yep, I stopped because it was shit, followed up with arse lickers telling me not to bother then if I didn't like it... well great advice pal - I did stop and went elsewhere - as did another thousand or so. Great advice. Totally solved the issue. Look where we are now, same shit, same crap, same old.... such a shame. And then Jim gets a two year extension and people wonder why the crowds are dropping. He was one of the the reasons I stopped coming. Sorry Jim, great defender, but this position isn't for you, you have had plenty of time. Once again, I challenge anyone to disagree we couldn't pick a team on here between ourselves without watching shitter football. There is nothing left to lose... a two year contract? Wtf? Sums everything up and another reason I don't bother turning up anymore. No ambition.
Small club in a big pond... blah blah blah.... no, just shit football.
