Had a quick drive along it this afternoon, just 5 minutes from the Morecambe Rd junction to the mini roundabout in the centre of Halton and the same in return! Evening rush hour looked very quiet on Google Maps between Lancaster and Morecambe, but then it is schools half term.

The schools being off only affects traffic round 3 o'clock.

The rush hour is the same all year round so I think it looks like its going to be a success.

I usually find evening rush hours are quieter during the holidays too, presumably due to the number of parents taking time off to be with their little darlings!

Five mins from wickes to mway with getting stuck at lights at Honda and mcmbe Rd. I can't believe how quick it is!! I thought been the longer northern route it would take longer.

I can see house prices in Morecambe and heysham shooting up. I live in south Lancaster and can't get to j33 in five mins.

It's not as long as you think when you look at the route it takes. Pretty much east-west compared to SE-NE along Morecambe Rd and Caton Rd!

I still think that when the schools go back next week, that there are so many cars on the road that the morning and evening rush hours will still be very congested on Morecambe Road and over the Skerton and Greyhound bridges.

Into Lancaster maybe, but happy days for anyone going straight to the motorway, it's a winner!

Plus, the port of Heysham traffic won't be going up Morecambe road any more.

I,m the one who puts the banners up out side asda and most of the time looking down to the tip it looks like a scene from convoy, so if most of the trucks use the new road it will make a big difference to traffic.

I,m the one who puts the banners up out side asda and most of the time looking down to the tip it looks like a scene from convoy, so if most of the trucks use the new road it will make a big difference to traffic.

Will the wagons still leave the bypass to fill up at the petrol station on Ovangle road (think it's Gulf) as it is the 1st one, in fact I think the only one before the M6? They'll probably then carry on past Asda and rejoin the bypass at the Morecambe road lights.

If this is the case they should be directed down through White Lund to rejoin at the lights by Lancaster Honda.

Nearest fuel station is actually on the old Reebok site (you would not know it but it is in the corner) then there is Gulf (Pyes)

I can tell you that all the HGV drivers who I have spoken to, since the link opened, LOVE it

9 minutes 23 seconds from M6 to Heysham port

Council have been handing out flyers about litter along the route

Anyone with money in the bank, I urge them / you to buy land and build a truck stop - speculate to accumulate - you will be minted in good time

There is nowhere for HGV drivers, A to park B to fuel up C to stay over night, D to wash / shower E to eat

If I had money or find myself loaded, I will be investing in a truck stop along this route

The port is set to expand with £10 million investment (work started this week) It will only get busier. bigger port enable either bigger ships or more ships per day which means more trucks delivering trailers / cargo

I also heard that next year, Greyhound bridge will be completely closed for essential maintenance

15 minutes from College junction to Storth this afternoon.......used to take 25 -30 minutes via Carnforth.

Wonder how long it will be before a Greasy Spoon opens in one of the lay byes going towards the M6....

I wasn't aware of a filling station on the Reebok site but do often see wagons pulling into the Gulf station. They want/need to fuel up before hitting the motorway and agree with the truckstop idea, wish I had the cash.

Didn't realise there was going to be a footpath the full length of the new road, we walked the dog yesterday as far as the A6 and back, the plan for Saturday is walk the full length to Halton across Denny Beck then back along the cycle track.

The path dropping down to link up with the canal towpath is fenced off at the moment

Still can't get my head around the need for cone Valley around the motorway junction.
