..... we beat Stockport County 5-0 at The Globe in the torrential rain.

A Tuesday night match, horrendous weather, and a crowd of 2005

It must be 25 years ago since the F.A.Cup tie at Christie v.Hull City and the famous Tommy Miller "goal that never was "

Yep, November 1991 mate.

25 years ago this year.

I skived off work to go to that game as I worked Saturday's back then.

Those were the days, when the excitement of the FA Cup 1st Round excited. I remember walking around Morecambe town centre on my lunch hour the day the draw was made and I bumped into Barney who told me all excited like, "Hull City!! At home!!!"

This was in the days before mobile internet etc, and wow, a Football League Club at home!!

The WHOLE TOWN was buzzing about it !!

Sadly, today........................

Yes!! Great days Seasider :D
Now, IF we could beat Coventry....and IF we could somehow amazingly get through the 2nd Round.....
A home tie in the 3rd Round against a Premier or even Championship club might just get the town buzzing once again!!

Any history buffs out there able to help me pinpoint the date of my first match at Christie Park 56 years ago? I believe it was November 1960 against Congleton in a competition called something like the Lancashire Combination/Cheshire League cup, sat in the old stand with my dad, I think it was a 2-0 win

I think I can sir.

December 18th 1961 we met Congleton Town for the first time.

Cheshire League/Combination Inter League Cup and Congleton won 2-1 against the odds in a game watched by 1900 fans

It was 1974 , a week or 2 after the Shrimps won the FA Trophy at Wembley.

Didn't we beat a Man United side in the semi final soon after Wembley then lost to City in the final

Yes we beat quite a strong Man Utd side in the semi , a decent crowd on which some anorak may know details of.

I think United were relegated the same day that we won the FA Trophy at Wembley

Your right , it was the day Denis Law back-heeled the winner for Man. City at Old Trafford.

A United fan I know said they put Morecambe's result against Dartford on the scoreboard at Old Trafford that day and there was a huge cheer.
