can't see it being that much unless other teams want him.

I'd snap 175k silly arguing over 25k when they could say well forget it then.

No surprise that his former manager at Blackpool is reported to have agreed to buying him. Hate to see him go better now for hopefully a decent fee rather than for nothing at the end of his contract in summer.

As for the reasons then if it's to pay wages then we have to ask about investment in players come January.

I don't like the look of this take over the longer it goes on.m

But wasn't Duffy over 24yrs of age, so he would have gone for free? Due to his age, Tom couldn't leave for free, but with other clubs interested in him, someone else may have come in with a better deal, so PNE may have paid a decent amount just to secure him.

I think we can be fairly sure that Peter Ridsdale has had a hand brokering this deal.

Yes indeed. Just seen a photo on Twitter of Ridsdale at The Globe.

And it was a recent pic because Abdullah whatever his name is was also on picture.

Where do we go from here?? Is it down to the lake I fear? (As somebody once famously sang)

Ominous signs emerging about the sale of the club if the news about Tom is true. Surely PMG hasn't sold us down the river but cashflow doesn't seem to be the real issue but rather a shortage of cash in general. If we have desperately needed to sell a player so early in the new regime then it bodes badly for the future of the club we love.

If true then this raises more questions than answers.

This smacks of a 'fire sale' to get cash in and I am concerned that with Tom being out of contract at the end of the season, we might not be getting as much for him as we could. As others have pointed out, perhaps the club know that Tom won't sign a new contract and if that is the case then fair enough - we should cash in. I suppose we'll never know.

I would like to think that if this is truly a short term cash flow problem, our new owner would have deep enough pockets to resolve the problem without having to sell our best player. I am definitely concerned.

Is there an agreement for him to play in the cup replay. Bloody hope so as he caused coventry problems at least in the first 45.

Assuming he gone then we've lost our only speed merchant who operates on the wings.

Just hope that we can get a decent replacement in January but will there be money to pay for them.

Loosing confidence in the take over day by day and fear for the future of our club.

Sad days ahead... :?: :?: :?:

He can't play football till January. He may be able to play Reserve football , not sure on their rules.

They can't lend him back to us as the window is shut !

If the story about Tom is true how are we going to be able to afford signings in January? I think Gordon Taylor knew this deal was developing when he referred to us selling a player last week. Suspect the fee will pay the wages owed to the players and pay the loan to the PFA. Worrying times for the future, would love to hear Peter McGuigan's take on what is happening!

It will not touch the PFA loan unless PNE are giving us a lot more than has been rumoured.

There's more wages due in less than 3 weeks so we can only hope they have a plan in mind.

I doubt if Peter has any more involvement in our great club despite his wish to still have a role to play. I can't believe that he's simply walked away from the club that he's developed and devoted a he'll of a lot of time and energy as well as the millions he has self funded..

If he's gone then he deserves some recognition.

I'd be disgusted if he's gone on the insistence of the new owners but at the moment nothing would surprise me in view of recent developments.

As things stand, his pledge to leave the club in safe hands, looks as good as his promise of eastern riches, a new pub behind the home end, world peace etc etc etc........

Jesus new signings in January! I'll be delighted if we can see the season or and get to a point we still have a club.

Efforts must be doubled.

What's the point of a transfer window? Surely if true it's a pre-contract.... like rangers and Accrington did with windlass. He will be available for selection until the end of the season??

Windass and Crooks were both out of contract at the end of last season so there was no fee, not sure if there was a development fee involved though.

Available for selection. I don't see how tom could sign when the window is closed.

It's happening
Clearly in Jimbo's interview they have talked about it.
And in the PFA interview they say Morecambe are looking at selling a player.
