Not living in the area has it made a significant difference to traffic going to Lancaster?

Still can't get my head around the need for cone Valley around the motorway junction.

IMO yes it has, I called in Lancaster on the way home last week and for the first time in ages I drove to Aldi before I got into a small queue.

Heysham to Carnforth (layby on Carnforth level) via prom hest bank, bolton le sands, yesterday morn - 9.8 miles 22 minutes.
Today, exactly same time setting off (07.50a.m.) down Oxcliffe road, Bay Gateway, M6 - 10.6 miles 16 minutes.
Tomorrow I think I'll try Oxcliffe, Bay gateway, A6 junction, Bolton le Sands, but I can't see that being any better.
Oh! what an interesting life I lead!

Oh yes, MFC-Manc , if I remember correctly, there was supposed to be lighting all the way (and possibly cycle routes on both sides?) but the cost was too high, so it had to be replanned without these. Didn't stop them going £16.5 mill over budget (at last count) though!.

Lighting around the junctions OK but pointless lighting it through the countryside - just no need. Maybe when the surrounding areas are developed and it's used more by cyclists and pedestrians there'll be more street lighting. I also think there were objections on the grounds of light pollution.

Tomorrow I think I'll try Oxcliffe, Bay gateway, A6 junction, Bolton le Sands, but I can't see that being any better.

It will be shorter distance and the A6 is now much clearer so you may be surprised - could well be quicker than the motorway.

Why on earth is there no lights on a roundabout when you're approaching it at 70mph!

It's down to 50mph before the roundabout, but people are ignoring it!! Needs better signage and for me the ever decreasing lines in the road to help educate idiots.

What a shame that we have to spend more money to compensate for stupidity. Drive within yours and the car's ability. Can't see far ahead, slow down, don't accelerate.

There are signs telling you the speed restriction is 50mph and huge roundabout signage. They're
reflective and easily visible in the dark.

Idiots driving too fast and not looking at road signs is the only reason they are driving into the roundabout!

Talked to a lad from costain at asda the other day and he said lights are going to be put on the roundabout but not the full length of the road.

Speed ! I've driven , cycled and walked it both ways now and the speeds of all types of vehicles is scary. Walking it was just like walking along the hard shoulder of the M6. Drivers are just ignoring speed limits and tailgating . Hopefully it will settle down and it's just an initial phase but at the moment a lot of drivers drive on it as they would on the M6.

It's national speed limit (70mph for a dual carriageway) from the M6 to just before the roundabout. Then 50mph over the roundabout and then down to 40mph as it approaches Torrisholme.

Plenty of roundabouts on dual carriageways don't have lighting.

Err no it is not. It is national speed limit from the M6 to the Slyne Rd roundabout, which is 70mph. Not 60 as most people think a dual carriage way is.

Is it only 50 and then 40 after the roundabout heading to the college junction.

PS: I can drive fine it is other idiots.

There Are 50 signs approximately 100 yards BEFORE the roundabout, one on either side of the road coming from the M6 roundabout.
Some people don't see them, some ignore them.

I live in Scale Hall and work on Caton Road. The new Road has made a massive difference to the volume of traffic driving to and from work over Skerton Bridge; it's practically non-existent.... where are the nay sayers who predicted the road wouldn't make a difference to traffic travelling locally? Thoras Passage is the world's 8th wonder.... all hail MP David Morris.
