So, the club WILL have a gambling license.

Why can't they just use Neil's excellent idea and set it up and run it???

Not the clubs fault
but unfortunately due to restrictions of the Gambling Act the idea would appear to be a non starter.

Looks as though I should have done my homework before posting the idea.

Sorry everybody but it would appear that the idea although well intended is a non starter....

Embarrassed and frustrated.....

If nothing else it shows there is interest in this sort of scheme and maybe Mr Lottery should be looking into a legal club version of it

Well, yes, that's what I thought the idea was. I don't think anyone would have let a supporter do it on their own in their own name and send them their bank details etc etc.

May I politely ask if people would support the official club weekly draw that raises many thousands of pounds to the club each year

You can join online at
http://www.morecambefcshop.co.uk/produc ... eekly-Draw

To join by standing order please drop a private message with email address and I will forward a standing order form to you

Just £1 a week - cheaper than the National Lottery and supporting the club 52 weeks per year

Also

Agents required for existing rounds in the Morecambe Bay area - why not do your bit in helping us raise more funds? Just one night per fortnight and you receive a generous amount of expenses plus a ticket for every home league game (subject to collection figures)

I think it's a good idea.

I wouldn't become too disheartened straight away Neil, contact the local licensing department at the council for impartial advice. Torrisholme Cricket Club have a 100 club which runs along the same lines as what you have proposed.

Fair play to you CC for trying to start something like this, and the interest generated after a short time from one post on the board is encouraging.

Hopefully we will either see such a scheme formed or maybe we could just support the Shrimps lottery.

Colin, I think not doing this would be a travesty.
I believe the majority of people who have said they want to take part already subscribe to the 'MFC Weekly' draw, and this would be an additional £750 income every month clear with no overheads or commission to pay out!
The same scheme is operated by many clubs already, with some operating multiple 100 clubs.

The main issue is that the profits of any gambing scheme where the profits are not going to a good cause, i.e a charity, have to have a gaming licence involved, what would happen to the 750 a month if it went ahead?, a cheque to the club?, or would the 100 club attach conditions?

that's what I thought, when first reading through this thread.

F-COM have the same interests and Intentions, surly they can work with CC on the 100 club.

Surely FCOM can run a sort of platinum membership for anyone who would be willing to pay £10/month for this?

Maybe platinum members could be entitled to more perks and discounts along with a premium draw which takes place monthly alongside the standard membership draw?

I have a lot of connections in the hospitality industry and I'd be more than happy to try and get them involved with discounts associated with FCOM membership.

We are part of a "group" and pay a percentage into the prize fund. This allows us to support a prize fund which is larger than what we would be able to have "on our own". This is cost effective and takes away the headache and legal ramifications of us having to produce the full prize fund each week (legal duty). It is common in lotteries with very few clubs having a stand alone lottery.

In regards to the scheme, since Neil has disclosed some of our private message I may as well state that we have a contract that states we will not run any other "competing" draws (of which the 100 club would be) as part of our contract. I also place on record that we have a very favourable arrangement with the Midland Sporting Association who administer the draw who are a non profit making organisation.

I would again request that all supporters support the clubs draw and the knowledge that it is both legal and the proceeds come to the club. We have full administration of all members through Morecambe FC at the Globe Arena and our own staff (myself and Alan) who run the draw with our team of collectors / agents

If anyone would like to meet with me at the club please drop me a line and I will happily discuss the lotteries side with you.

In a nutshell, the club are participating in a very well run lottery scheme , and however well meaning ,CC's idea is a non starter, anyone that considered joining it would be helping the club by buying more lottery tickets, or insistng on paying too much for their drinks on matchdays.

OK so after some digging (not very difficult)!
http://www.backhenrystreet.co.uk/thread-27655-page-3.html#.WCo4DYXXLIU

This may be the reason the club can't endorse a 100 club ...

Rule 5: The Club agree not to join, promote or endorse any other draws other than the Gold Bond Draw with the exception of the Half Time match draw under this agreement. In the event of the club doing so a penalty payment of £5,000 will be due to the society.

Neil

Get yourself the relevant certification via the council (it doesn't cost much) run a private 100 club or 200 if you have the interest

make your donation to the club every month, how you choose to do this, doesn't matter

There is clearly interest

As you can see / read - there is red tape preventing you and others from running it direct through the club

The only win once in 12 month idea is a very good idea

The no number twice in a year is a bad idea as there is no point continuing to pay into it if you have won.

Neil said it was a minimum 12 months, which after that you sign up for another 12. Doesn't stop someone stopping their D/D I suppose

The simple salient fact is that by wishing to stop a person who has lawfully entered the draw to win a second time you are in breach of the law and the promoter would face legal action as well as removal of the licence may have something to do with it. Basic gambling law ...........
