Duffy???

I got it wrong earlier about the embargo. The embargo applies to signings and loans. It was lifted for one signing in the transfer window. The embargo is back in place, we cannot sign or loan anyone until it is lifted.

He has signed for us in a pre-contractual agreement

Looks like Drenchy could be on the move as well

Given the lengths we've gone to, I hope this lad is worth it!

Could it mean a return to 4 4 2

Neil Wainwright on one wing , Mark Duffy on the other wing and Stanners and Drummy in centre midfield.

Personally I hope not. The presence of Duffy wouldn't make the rest of the team any better at 4-4-2. With our lack of pace in defence, we need 3 men in the central areas.

I think it would be an option in home matches against the less attacking opposition teams.

Just think they are jumping the gun. I think we will still be talking to him (and them) about signing him and a pre-contract deal would be one way of securing him for next season without breaking the embargo.

It seems all parties want it to go ahead.

But as I understand it no such deal has yet been signed.

Question now is (assuming he will sign) who does he replace?

Not an easy one by any means.

Will have to be 4-4-2 unless he can play just behind the striker so take Fraser out probably as mentioned above.

Just taken a call from a client in Southport who reckons that with full time training and playing alongside better players he has the potential to follow in CBs footsteps.

If he's as quick as they reckon.....a 'Thommo Mk2' ?????

id have liked to have signed Ian Harte who was just released by Blackpool, trying to prove his Fitness

could do with a experienced left sided player who's also a good dead ball specialist

I agree, a holding player in front of the central defence like Fraser is vital with the players we have.

He's not a Carl Baker in any way shape or form.

By that Mellow do you mean what I think you mean i.e. He's not in the same class as Baker. Or do you mean he's decent but a different style of player to Baker? What can we expect if he does move to us. Do you think he will be football league standard?

Both.

They're very different players.

Baker could play across all forward positions, on either wing, upfront, in the middle, in the whole etc. He was adept with both feet, had good vision and could score.

Duffy is a hard working player but I'm not convinced there's a great deal more to him than that. He cuts inside quite a lot, but surprisingly for a winger doesn't beat players on the outside as much as he should, or cross as well as he should do.

I wish him well but I think you've been a bit over sold on who he is.
