''IN IT TOGETHER''

At the moment, with things in turmoil, it would be nice to rally round the team, as supporters , we don't have a team of superstars but we expect blood sweat and tears from them, in return for crap wages etc.''Rallying round'' them should not involve slagging off the management and senior players, who have actually made our club what it is, sadly PMG tought us that loyalty is a one way street, the disgusting treatment of Jim Harvey, Edgy, Gary Hunter, Andreas, Andy Parrish etc. are prime examples, now it's Jim, Ken, Kev, and Baz, we are a family club, a family off shameless, like the Gallaghers, we even have a Gallagher style grotty drug infested estate on the side of the ''Stadium''

Yes we really are "IN IT TOGETHER" DEEPLY in it! The only thing PMG did wrong in my opinion was give the management an extended contract out of the blue. The dwindling crowds are doing so because of the mis-management of the team, negative dull football, no entertainment, no plan on how to manage a game The club is losing money because the football is rubbish. The football played is the managements style, the supporters don't like and won't pay to watch it. So we lose more money! The green army could well outnumber the home fans next week sadly. How bad does it have to get on the pitch?? Bentley must go

An alternative view is we can only afford Conference North players to keep us in League Two? How many of the current squad would be wanted by other League Two clubs? Perhaps the style of football is the best we can do to try and grind out results to stay in the Football League? Luton apparently have a playing budget five times the size of ours, what will Plymouth's be?

I had some very frustrated conversations at the race night last night. But I also had some positive ones too. We really do need to be 'in it together', because this is OUR club.

Just another thought on that comment. At the start of each season, we say that "success" will be finishing one place above relegation or higher. Perhaps we need to re-evaluate what actually defines "success"? Would some of us actually define 'success' as being a Conference North club that plays entertaining football and wins most weeks? Maybe that is the case, and fair enough. But playing entertaining, winning football in League Two costs a lot more money than we have. The fact that we now know the club has had to borrow from the PFA on at least three occasions just to pay wages, demonstrates how skint we really have been for a long time.

Success for me, at its most basic, is simply having a Morecambe Football Club to support, whichever division we're in. However, having good players, some loanees from a higher level, on the bench for far longer than anyone can reasonably expect when the starting XI are clearly struggling out there, is what's pissing off a large proportion of the fanbase in my opinion. Despite all the concerns off the field, somebody has to take responsibility for what's happening on it and that falls on the manager.

Ultimately, is staying in League 2 worthwhile?

It's becoming more and more apparent that the club in it's current guise cannot support League 2 football - and if it makes it to the end of the season will be an achievement in itself the way things are going?

If we have Conference north players playing football that's not getting results and making the few fans we have left, and the club ends up going bust because it can't sustain itself, we've acheived worse than nothing.

Far better to accept relegation whilst the club still exists and attempt to regroup in the Conference than be obliterated from existence completely trying to postpone the inevitable.

If we went down, we would struggle to compete in tbe conference anyway, and maintaining the globe would be a major financial burden, even if tbe new owners run it more competently.

Totally agree spud. It is a vicious circle, I am afraid. Unless we preform at a good level fans stop coming at any level we are playing, which has an effect on our gate and this would continue in the conference with dwindling gates. We had a good hardcore of fans in the conference days because we had Christie park and we played as a team unit. The club since then has changed with no communication between supporters and the club. The players preform when they feel like it and the atmosphere is dead at the Globe. The club needs to get a grip!

Two clubs similar to us are probably Dagenham and York. Relegation to conference caught up with them.

It is our time to go back down where we belong. I will still watch them week in week out when we are storming the Conference with beautifully played football and three and four nil wins  :geek:

If we are relegated then we won't be coming back to league 2. There are far to many clubs bigger and wealthier than us in the conference, I believe we would and will struggle in the conference.
