O/T More financial woes

Here is another football club facing financial troubles. A brand new stadium and a couple of years of success but have been hit by falling crowds. I think Football as a live event is on its Arse these days and can not compete with the "sat watching Geoff with a betting slip" brigade.

Oldham Athletic are apparently up shit creek without a paddle also. The company that built their shinny new stand has gone bust because they've not been paid. The club itself has been split up into seperate limited companies (e.g. the gym is its own Ltd company, as is the hospitality areas in the new stand) and crowds are plummeting because the football is 'dire' - sound familiar?

Also, not sure how true this is - was told yesterday, the Latics have not been helped by a ST incentive they ran last year for current year renewals. When Oldham were struggling they offered £40 off a ST for each win they achieved in a period if you renewed next year's season ticket now.... they won all 4 games and people renewing got £160 knocked off their ST

Chesterfield are also screwed by the sounds of it. Their major financial backer has walked away from the club and is owed close to £10m
