Christmas raffle tickets

Anybody got them this year ???, usually had them through the post by now to sell . Surely must raise a bob or two for the club !

There is not a Christmas Draw this year.

I approached Fcom informally a few months ago requesting their support and assistance in an ongoing attempt to work together and was told it would be put forward at the next meeting, nothing came back.

Due to the timescales (everything is normally done for the start of October as the deadline to have everything ready is half term to allow tickets to be produced, packs put together and posted, sellers time to sell !) and the other pressures in the department due to lack of volunteers for collecting rounds etc as well as the decline in sales the previous year and the takeover I made the decsion to not go ahead with one this year.

Last year the draw raised in the region of £800 (only posting a surplus in the final week)

It is the intention of the department to run a Christmas Draw in 2017 and I would hope it would be run with the support of Fcom / Supporters Trust

I hope this clarifies for all

I am not sure I am happy with the way that sounds when reading it

on first reading it sounds like you are using the Fans Club as an excuse for not being able to do a raffle, forgive me if I am reading this wrongly.

So you made an approach months ago, why have you waited for an answer and not got the ball rolling already in anticipation that any support from the fans club could have come additionally.

Who at the fans club did you ask ? I am interested as to why they have not responded to your request


Your normally pretty successful when you do things your way.

Colin, I did say I would ask our members to help sell ticket's.............. So what was the problem?

I have replied to the original question and will not get into a full debate on the whys and why nots on here. The decision was made and agreed by those at the club.

As stated, last year the draw only produced a surplus in the last week and, at the time it was questioned if it was worth running (to not post a surplus of a minimum of 20% of the gross sales would have meant the draw was not in compliance with the Gambling Act) . With all the other factors ongoing at the time the decision was made in good faith.

In my opinion the club needs a good shake up all round both on the playing front and the commercial side. We seem to have lost any focus and are plodding along comfortably in our mediocrity.

When it comes to negativity, the club themselves are where it comes from. They criticise negativity among the fans etc., but it seems it's always the club management who are the negative ones. It does come across as a "can't do" attitude whatever it is. Just look at the way Neil was shot down re his 100 club. When it was suggested to have a marquee or some form of covering behind the Omega, they came out with planning rules, security/camera issues etc. Desperately need a "can do" attitude and some positivity from the club itself.

So why try to blame The Fans Club then?

I think it is disgusting that supporters of the club have come up with a newer idea of how to GIVE money to OUR club and this idea is shot down in favour of a current game which gives money to other clubs as well as ours (so surely the percentage we receive is lower and the amount of MFC winners is lower)

I know you have baffled us with your reasons, but it doesn't wash - we should think of ourselves first and get our priorities right

or is that what your doing.....

is our lotteries department self funded or does our club fund the department ?

And to top it off, you post something which is suggesting that the fans club is part reason for YOU not being able to hold a christmas raffle, now your not able to comment......

my opinion, let someone else run the lotteries, someone who has the drive to get things done and someone who doesn't blame other for their failings.

You once spoke to myself when Pat Stoyles was FCoM chairman and YOU told me how successful your lottery department was and that thing should be left to you. I think that your scared that others can do better than you and you quote all this sh!t to protect yourself and your position.

Just registered after lurking now and again for years and the popcorn is in the pan.

On a serious note, as a subscriber to the draw for a few years, I'm really surprised to be reading how many clubs are actually involved (I thought it was just us! (doh!)) and thus how many people across the region must be participating in it. Now I know why I haven't won a thing since it started, not even a fiver.
The old system of buying a few tickets for the half time draw was much more fun anyway.
To see CC waddling round to the Berlin Wall with a handful of tickets and a collection box and being on the end of some good-natured barracking as to why the winner always seems to reside in the main stand would surely be more profitable and a a bit of fun to boot.

A load of different draws will confuse people , fans should just get behind the official club one thats divided up between all the clubs, apart from anything else we probably gain from it as we are a minor contributor to the overall pot.

In fairness, I am not just talking about this thread, there is a history of it

but at a time where supporters need to come together, we could do without any wooden spoons

I know about the situation with the lottery and I agree with what you say about lots of different games / lotteries.

as for gaining from it, I have my reservations - I believe people get paid for their services and so I believe once these people get their share, there is no benefit / profit to our club.

on the other side of the coin, everything the fans club does, benefits the club financially - all those on the committee are non paid volunteers.

The fans club give more back to Morecambe supporters than the lottery department does.

£5 gets you membership for the season, it gets you up to 20% discount at over 10 local businesses and every member gets automatic entry into monthly prize draws

hospitality at home games being the top prizes

fans club has 5 morecambe winners every month.

such a basic thing to have setup, by a group of non paid volunteers.

Do you understand my frustration yet

I know how frustrating it can be.....

It just seems to me that when fans have offered their help (in some cases FOC) their offer has been declined or just totally ignored....and NOT from Directors I might add.

Why not leave Colin to concentrate on the weekly lottery and let the supporters trust take over raffles and other fund raising giving ALL the proceeds to the club, as WE who have voted in favour of the trust are only interested in Morecambe fc !

Why should we work hard for nothing, to fund raise for someone else, when there is someone being paid to do the job....
