I now strongly suspect this wages thing isn't actually true, and it might be advisable to ''hold your horses'' with the collection plans
Also, the players would be paid by the PFA, so maybe a collection for the other staff only , most on minimum wages would be a possibilty if it were true.

I did have concerns about mentioning it. I've been told it by two people, one a club employee. If it isn't true then I humbly apologise. If it isn't true why is a club employee stating it as fact? I think it perhaps shows the mess we're in.

Others have doubted its validity so the first thing we should do as fans is find out whether it is true and also understand the financial position of the club. At times like this it feels like fiddling while Rome burns. I'll also make contact with people at the club to try to find out.

As I said, I had some concerns about posting. However I remembered a long discussion I had with Plymouth Argyle fans. Their board never gave them the full picture until it was too late. The club then operated with the staff not paid for nearly a year. The Argyle Fans Trust worked relentlessly to save the club and repay what was owed to the staff. http://www.argylefanstrust.com/mission/. They took every opportunity to turn opportunity into money. The SkyBet scenario hopefully means some bonus money for the club. However we can use the opportunity, as Paul / Outsider perfectly suggests, to get fans to put some money into the pot.

Again, if I'm wrong, I'll say so.

I've just heard from a Director that it ISN'T true. I've then spoken to another employee to check again and they also say they had heard nothing. I've now rang the second person who told me and he tells me he also heard the story from the same source.

I can only apologise for this and deeply sorry for any offence caused. It doesn't take away the fact that we're in immense financial difficulties and we have to do everything we can as fans to help out, including maximising opportunities to donate.

Apologies again.

Whilst this story is looking less likely, silence from the club and the lack of progress reports will only breed rumour, its human nature, a reinstated member of staff is busy telling anyone that will listen that Diego, ''ran off with the vat money'', if thats the case, why are the police not involved?, the club has to engage more with its shrinking fan base if it is to survive.

Whoever is responsible for creating this uncalled for 'shit' needs their reasoning to be questioned.

Total respect to both Posh and MrP... :)

As for the Pie and a Pint business, I'm totally in favour of fans placing the actaul cost in buckets strategically placed next to the distribution points.

I only have limited knowledge of the clubs cash flow forecasts like most , but my understanding is that in January the club receive 50% of quite a hefty sum from the EFL in respect of the sponsorship and tv money. They also receive the instalment (one of 9 or 10) of the rest of the EFL monies.

What could put the above in jeopardy would be if the PFA were to demand this money to repay their loan although this could prove counter-productive as we would probably have to go back to them for another loan.

That sounds about right, the fact of the matter is, the club is a business(or two) and the Owner will do whatever he wants regardless , I personally feel that if we turned back time, ignored Diego, and carried on as we were, an iceberg was coming anyway.

Hopefully it is just a bad rumour regarding wages in January. The one thing it is doing though is continuing to bring ideas for the fans to help the club, keeping our plight albeit good or bad news in the public domain. It is a long way off until our next home game sadly. Keep the faith

I agree with the suggestion that buckets should be placed near the free pie and pint so fans can donate voluntarily the equivalent money for our club's funds. We need to help at this difficult time.

I still think we need to do something because if we just wait for official updates from the club they won't tell us anything until it's far to late and all over, we will then be kicking ourselves for not been able to help in the previous months

Like Rich said the other day look at Bradford Bulls they waited and waited and then it was to late.

I assume that seperate vouchers will be given for a pie and a pint otherwise it could be a totally 'free bar' with some taking advantage of it with 'one too many'....the same applies for the pies as well.... :?: :?: :?:

Having a bucket collection for the trust's funds at each outlet would be a good idea, so people can voluntarily donate, including the Cambridge end.

As mentioned earlier,

A Pie
A Pint
and
A Pound
In the Pot

...has a nice ring to it. Even if most people just chuck a quid in we'd raise about £1,500. And it's more positive news for the club.

Talking of which, the club need to market this 'free pie & pint thank you', so more locals get down. What about another 'special' poster? We've not had one for a while. Jim holding a pie & pint with the logo "Who ate all the free pies?" :D
“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband: ".

David Cameron. May 4th 2015.
So how did that work out then?

Can't see the club allowing a collection for the trust somehow.
