What about the staff??

What about the staff??

Postby Davison879 » Tue Jan 24, 2017 3:07 pm

What about the staff who open up the building and close it every night? Answering phones to the public, making bookings. There seems to be no one at the helm!! Will they be paid or should they just open up the venue for nothing and lose their homes. Will they be paid on time?

Lets thanks them for their commitment please??

Indeed, massive round of applause to them all.

Where would we be without them??

Incidentally, which area of the club do you work in?

All your posts so far have alluded to staff members.

Again, massive thanks to you all.

Im more than a bit suspicious. I completely agree and most know the staff personally and I'm confident should the club fall the wrong way, the fans would rally to sort them out.

People tweeting stuff left right and centre, new registrations, it all stinks of people trying to disrupt and get people to fall on either side.

Without wishing to sound too much of a bleeding heart, my phone is running hot to trot with established media outlets and Morecambe businesses offering assistance, all of which are being engaged with.

We as the interim trust are here to talk to anyone looking to engage with the club through various methods. After all, the whole premise of anyone owning a football club is to grow the fanbase to make more money for the club and themselves.

They however have yet to answer the requests..........

I just said to Lloydie I reckon soon the supporters trust will soon have more money than the club, people will be more than willing to donate towards the trust but won't give the club any money.

Can we start taking people up on these offers or do we still need to wait for a committee to be voted in? I'm a bit unsure on what the trust can and can't do at this stage and if there are limitations on you guys at the moment.

Headless chicken behaviour seems like a compulsory requirement in the crazy world of ''Captain Peter''

I don't think anyone is thinking you are "bleating" for yourself. I think we all feel sorry for every employee of the club and are thankful that everyone appears to be simply getting on with it despite all the turmoil. That's the full & part-time staff, players, management, match day & backroom staff.

Thank you all!

My experience of the non-playing staff at the club has in the main been very good, and I have every sympathy for them. I just hope we can come out right side before there is another failure to pay or any potentially more serious issue affecting them.

It is alright answering phones now and again but when they don't, how come they never return calls? The amount of lost revenue at this club over the past 7 years is disgraceful. Why doesn't any of these businessmen know how to run a business and take money in from interested parties? Anything is better than nothing.

How come you guys don't realise that these businessmen are really only in it for the apparent "prestige" they can get from saying they part own or run a football club. They aren't interested in us fans as is quite clear from their attitude recently with these problems of ownership. They also think they are "big" businessmen but in reality they are extremely naive to the crooks that are out in the big world. They won't accept help from the fans as this makes them look stupid and I suspect some of them think we are not serious when these offers are given.

Its sad that the club is in this state but not surprising. Lets look at the possible contributors:

Since the move to the Globe, anyone had a payrise? Almost from the off there were news of cutbacks, with staff numbers downsized, jobs merged etc. I'd imagine the line of 'count yourself lucky to still have a job' has been rolled out at each annual review since (if indeed these actually take place). With inflation over 6.5 years they could be working for a lot less than when they signed up in 2010.

With the delays in the Globe build staff appeared to have been thrown into new jobs in a new environment without any training, this issues haven't seemed to have improved since, so I'd imagine training has largely been ineffective or even non-existent.

Management. The club lost its unpopular GM with the Diego fiasco, who by all accounts called the shots on pretty much everything and hated giving others responsibility. Since then though the club is now totally rudderless and even more dysfunctional. I couldn't imagine working in a place where you don't even know who is in charge or who to go to for help or advice.

What will payday bring? Right now, I'd imagine chasing missed calls on the work phone might not be such a priority whilst you are unsure if your efforts will be rewarded with a full pay packet at the end of the month!

All things considered, I think that the club is 'just about functioning' is a credit to the staff.

But it isn't "right now" that phones aren't answered and messages not returned is it? It's been going on for years. My wife tried to book a birthday party for my son about 5 years ago and got fed up of trying to sort it out and did something else instead. I've emailed a few times over the years but never once had a reply. This kind of thing is well reported on here over the years - it should have been sorted out. It's a contributory factor to where the club is now and maybe some of the staff are partly responsible for their own current situation?

Yes , correct it has been like that for years and you have to say this is a failing of management. I was in a party that booked hospitality for a match a few years back. The hospitality and food were great as usual but they never sent a bill ! We had to ring several times to ask for invoice which eventually arrived otherwise the club would have been out of pocket by about £450.

Yes, ultimately bad management is to blame. Without a proper break from the PMG regime and a new and competent GM bringing in, things aren't going to change much.

your post is wrong in all sorts of ways Bill, the GM was never sacked, he was suspended bo Diego, and hes now back, wages have gone up in line with the law, the minimum wage has risen since the globe opened, and the staff in most departments are actually very good.

And now we know Diego was never in a position legally to suspend anyone.

The staff are very good. It is bad management that has been the real problem.

Lincoln City, on the other hand, are getting their act together thanks to an FA Cup run and savvy directors, something we can learn from and hope to replicate, before we end up in the same division (or is that the best outcome for us to be able to rebuild as they are doing?):

I never said he was sacked, but he hasn't officially returned as the GM either. As a director though he still has a legitimate involvement. IMO it would be disastrous if he were to return as GM.

If you were recruited on a salaried job on more than NMW its unlikely you would have seen any increments or cost of living rises as an MFC employee. This would be very demotivating for anyone.

The staff are generally very good, but when some are critising I was trying to offer some perceptive.
