Well that's the same position we was in before the Cala deal fell through.

I've got more faith in some agreement being generated with Abdulrahman Al Hashemi than anybody else.

At least the guy is true to his word by stating previously that he was prepared to continue a dialogue with the Board.

And as for the 6 day visit by the Cala delegates to Morecambe.....I'm surprised that that slipped through the net without some mention of it on SVs. :o

The Directors of Morecambe Football Club [1] met yesterday with former Co-Chairman Abdulrahman Al Hashemi to discuss a way forward [2] for the club following a disastrous period with Diego Lemos.

The meeting was very positive [3] and steps have been taken to ensure the immediate future of the club [4].

[1] Which ones? Diego Lemos is still listed as a director on the clubs website for example.
[2] What way forward? Is Abdul in talks to buy the club? Is he legally the owner and can therefore sell to someone else?
[3] Why was it positive? What is going on? Is Abdul coming back? Has a new owner surfaced?
[4] What steps? has Abdul given us some money? Has someone else given us some money? Have creditors agreed to not chase debts?

Well he was here back in July and no one commented then either. It does show how the board or sections of this keep everything to themselves. Obviously very little due diligence on Mr Cala.

Yes. That's how I'm reading it. I've wondered for a while if he was the real target? It sounds like, of all the 'new faces', he's the only one who has turned out to be what he claimed to be...

Reading Mr Cala's statements he did have us summed up pretty well, just a shame he had a dodgy reputation and prob no money to back himself up.

Still not sure what to make of Abdul for a long term answer, I think he must be a honest guy feels bad about what happened so doesn't just want to walk away, prob said to his dad the people at Morecambe were decent guys and I feel sorry for them over what has happened so wants to help out but is there a log term interest there.

From The Bay's latest news on the club:

Mr Stefano, said: “The problem is ownership, as far as I can make out Mr Abdulrahman owns the club, the only person that produced any money was Abdulrahman.

“The sales documents might have been under Diego Lemos’ name but he didn’t pay.”

If I were Mr Abdulrahman I would be very careful, it surely can't gave escaped his notice that his shares, that are presently in either Diegos or Graham Burfords names, were nearly sold to the dubious Mr Cala by who?

As far as the fans are aware, we currently have four owners.

1. Diego
2. Burford
3. PMG
4. Abdulrahman

I think Diego can now be 99% discounted? (Had the shares, still a director of MFC)
Burford? Possibly legally the current owner? (Has the shares via his company, hasn't [fully] paid for them)
PMG probably, currently, the moral owner? (Had the shares, didn't get [fully] paid for them)
Abdulrahman, possibly part paid for shares, expecting to become the owner?

Possibly PMG currently fighting to retrieve the shares from Burford so he can sell them directly to Abdulrahman? Out of all the possible scenarios, this is the one I'm pinning my hopes upon.

Yeah if you were Abdul wouldn't you be a bit annoyed they have been courting other people but because it has all fallen through they have gone oh lets ring Abdul up see if he's still interested because there is no one else left.

Classic MFC statement. Say something without actually committing to anything ;)

What confuses me is how can 'the board' negotiate anything when the club is now supposively owned by this Burford guy? Unless he is now leading the board in negotiations?

Really hoping that Abdul comes through with some investment, but right now we really are flying by the seat of our pants!

The board can negotiate anything they want as long as, when they sign on the dotted line, they (or PMG) is the legal owner of whatever they are signing for.

So basically Abdul has agreed to throw a bit of loose change in to keep things ticking over until PMG gets his shares back, by which stage he then sells a significant or controlling amount of shares to Abdul followed by some more significant investment? We can but hope!

What if Burford doesn't want to sell his shares and remain owner of the club but doesn't want to invest further in the club . :?: But then again if Pmg is confident we will not be going into administration maybe Burford has agreed to sell already . :?

Did I read Burford was at the Globe last week? Maybe there has been some agreement which leads PMG to believe that the end is in sight and it can be resolved otherwise how else can PMG have the right to go round tryong to sell a club that's not his. Although worryingly the statement says after the board meeting there is still questions over the ownership.

We should be happy about the Abdul money but I still don't understand a lot of things and still think there are more twists and turns to come.

can't see why anyone would really be interested in buying the club. The town has never really got behind having a Football league club. Attendances are pretty pitiful.

Maybe I'll never get to see the club playing in the football league.

I actually think MFC's fanbase is pretty decent, given the misery we have been served up in recent years.

Our home fan turn outs went up about 60% with the bit of success we got through promotion and the first few seasons in the league. With the right people running the club and a feel good factor returning, I see no reason why would couldn't get a similar number back, which could lead to us actually breaking even.
