Jimbo and the transfer embargo

Jimbo and the transfer embargo

Postby Christies Child » Thu Jan 26, 2017 6:56 pm

Speaking on Radio Lancashire Sport this evening, Jimbo said that there are a couple of additional players currently training with the club who he would like to sign but that the rules of the transfer embargo as they apply to ourselves ( I didn't realise that they differ depending on the reasoning for an embargo ) forbid the signing of contracted players at the moment. He didn't however say anythng about signing players on a non contractual basis. He did however mention that he did want to bring in at least a couple of additional players before the window closes and that loan deals are probably the more likely given the circumstances.

Jim also said that the squad was involved in a friendly game against Fleetwood ealier this week and that a further friendly may be on the cards for next Tuesday. At least the lads are getting some game time which in view of the lack of league games of late is most helpful.

I understand that one of those training with club is a former Rangers winger who has been on loan to another Scottish club most recently.

As I understand it we can sign players on a non contract basis that's assuming we are still in a position to continue as an FL club until the end of this season....at least :!: :!: :!:

Possibly Tom Walsh he was out on loan to St Mirren, actually thought he was still with Rangers but he has been released so it could be him, 20 years old.

Tom Walsh off the Rangers OWS

CURRENTLY ON LOAN AT ST MIRREN

AYRSHIRE-born Walsh has been at Rangers since he was 11-years-old. He made his first-team debut five years later on December 8 2012, at just 16-years-old, against Stirling Albion in Division Three.

After spending the first half of the 2014/15 season on loan to Stenhousemuir, where he made seven starts and scored two goals, he returned to Rangers.

It was then that his first-team career took off at Ibrox, Caretaker manager Kenny McDowall fielded him against Queen of the South and he impressed incoming boss Stuart McCall significantly. He became an integral part of McCall’s squad for the 2014/15 run in and featured in the play-off final against Motherwell.

He looked useful during his brief spell in the Rangers first team towards the end of the 2014/15 Championship season. He was loaned out by the new manager Mark Warburton and never played for the club again.

might be me being paranoid, but! I'm sure Diago Lamos tried buying St Mirren and is supposedly a football agent, begs the question did he have something to do with Tom Walsh training with us? or purely coincidence ?

Only released by Rangers on the 18th of January so its unlikely to be anything to do with Lemos.
