PETER McGUIGAN , the legacy

PETER McGUIGAN , the legacy

Postby mrpotatohead » Thu Feb 02, 2017 10:26 am

Whatever the short term outcome, Morecambe FC will always exist in some way, shape or form, there will one day ,be it the Globe site, or elsewhere, a true spiritual home for real supporters of our town team, there will always be a club and it will have a history, JB Christie was our founding father and benefactor, he will aways be revered in this town, Peter McGuigan will be remembered as the man that took us to the brink of oblivion, even if somehow this mess is resolved , even if he somehow regains control of the club and it survives in its present form, this should never be forgotten, the management and players delivered us Football League status, JB'S legacy was abused to take us from our home, and this should never be forgotten.

The worrying thing is, there's plenty of pages left to be written about PMGs legacy. I can't help but feel we're not even halfway through this saga as only time will tell what Cala et al plans are.

OK Lee, by now I think the entire SV family gets the message that you blame PMcG for everything wrong at our club.

Don't you think it's about time you devoted your entire energy to ensure that Cala and Co never take over at our club..... :?: :?: :?:

PMcG will financially suffer as a result of his actions to date, but Cala presents a bigger threat to our clubs very existance. His promises of financial assistance have proved to be groundless and is a repeat of what he said at Portsmouth. He needs to know in no uncertain terms that the fans of out great club simply don't want him around...granted some think otherwise but dare I suggest that they are in a very small minority.

I wouldn't trust Cala with anything let alone our football club.....

It is on Radio Lancashire's twitter feed

I heard an extract at 1-30 on Radio Lanc's and they said it would be on their twitter feed for the full interview.

It was quite heated !

Legacy looking pretty dodgy right now.

First half, pretty good. Progress on the pitch and achieving FL status

Second half, pretty dire. Spent Christie's legacy on a nice stand for him to sit in. Ran the club into the ground by alienating the fans and failing to run the club as a proper business. Sold out to some questionable characters and left us where we are at today :(

Ta for getting this back on topic Bill, I don't totally blame PMG for everything Neil , but I think a lot of people will, there are plenty of posts to bang on about Cala, Diego, the weather etc. 'this isn't one of them, if you want to comment on how you think PMG will be remembered in 100 years, feel free, I see him being remembered just like Noel Edmonds.

In reality very little unfortunately, but I'm not just going to sit back and let some bloody shark take over our club without him and his co conspirators knowing how I and I hope others regard him with complete and utter disdain.

Surley you agree that Cala's pronouncements about finance being available and that in his mind he''s the owner don't sit well when you read of his failed attempt to take over at Portsmouth as his rehtoric then is almost the same as it is now.

I fully accept that PMcG has made a error of judgement in this entire process, but according to the info I've been given by at least 2 members of the current board all the checks availalbe on Lemos's credibility to take control didn't show anything other than a clean bill of health.

Now is the time for SVers to act as one and to put aside any problems that SVers may have with fellow SVers.

I believe Cala is nothing other than bad news, and to have someone sniffing around the club shows the kinds of people we are left with who are interested in buying the club and that there is no realistic prospect of a sale that has any sort of promise for the club.

I was more interested in you trying to deflect an argument that wasn't going your way by trying to shut down the comments that you didn't like being made, when you yourself didn't seem to be actively doing anything to stop the sale, and admitting there is nothing realistically that can be done.

I believe the only was we can get our feelings across is at a home match inside the stadium - either a mass walk out at some point during the match, or taking a leaf from Charlton's book and co-ordinating many things being thrown onto the pitch to cause a stoppage to the match.

And should Cala take over, the only realistic protest I can see is a withdrawal of support for the club until he goes.

You are joking??? :o :o :o

Jim has been working miracles keeping a squad together and getting them to fight for every point, even with the uncertainty above their heads regarding their very livelihoods. And the best you can come up with is something that will undermine everything he's trying to do? Cala & co won't give a crap about that, but any player who is putting his all in to keeping us above the relegation places (preferably 12 points above) is likely to view such a disruption as 'sod it, I'm out of here and couldn't care less'. Not to mention they may need to finish 15 points above relegation if the league then decided to dock points!

Get the Shrimps Trust to speak with Rod Taylor and find out what he thinks is the best thing we can do (besides getting 100% behind Jim, the players & unpaid staff)? Then do that in a coordinated manner.
“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice - stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband: ".

So how did that work out then?

I agree. I won't be throwing anything onto the pitch or walking out during a game... the manager, players and staff deserve better than that. They all need our support and we need to try and win every game we can without distractions, because there are enough of those off the pitch!

Are you seriously suggesting that the club gets into further deep water but this time with the EFL by throwing objects onto the field during a game...... :?: :?: :?:

Has that worked for Blackpool or Blackburn?

That's a terrible idea the only thing this does is put the club in a worse position, its only us that suffer.

Deep water, just like Charlton haven't?

I'm all for supporting the players, and people are entitled to have their opinions on what I suggested. Personally, I think the players and management would appreciate a display of solidarity by the fans making abundantly clear that they've also had enough rather than everyone pontificating on the internet, turning up and clapping politely.

Maybe it is a bad idea, but all I see on here is people saying "something should do something" without anybody actually doing ANYTHING.
